Well, it says that the world release of The Witcher 2 is on may the 17th. But in Norway that day is a holiday, which made Gamestop actually sell it to me this Friday the 13th........ ye, so I forgot that when I got home and installed it I can't play it cuz there are no servers to use the activation code on XD (must prob. wait till may 17th, reason why I hate gamestop sometimes -.-')

Odd system to be sure, looks like a great game, and one I'd probably really like, but alas, my PC ain't up to it, so unless it comes out on PS3 I won't be playin it. Although Skyrim will probably be better.

Got my copy on pre-order and can't wait to pick it up on Tuesday. I recently finished the first one and look forward to import my save file into the second. One of my most anticipated games this year and it doesn't look like it will disappoint.

I wish the collectors edition wasn't so damn expensive, 120 bucks is way past my comfort zone for spending. It's a good thing that the standard edition comes with enough swag that it is pretty much a collectors edition as well.

I honestly haven't been this excited for a game in... hell, years. Everything I continue to read and learn about the game only makes me anticipate it all the more.

HOLY SHIT!

I'm super excited for this, and while my PC isn't top notch I don't think ill have a problem running it on high settings.

But this thing is going to KILL my degree :*(

Only on the copies sold through GOG.com. Otherwise the date check is the only DRM.

OT: I'm fucking going to cream my pants over Witcher 2. Seriously. I've just recently got really into the Witcher and it is fucking DEEP. Like the best RPG ever made in terms of overall presentation. Gameplay, story, graphics, meta-game, it's all there. They don't try to sell you the combat as the defining aspect of the game, which is a real refreshing stance as compared to games like say, Mass Effect 2. And the Witcher 2 looks to just expand everything even further. I get giddy like a little school girl over just the thought of it.
Yea I only recently finished the first game a few weeks ago, although when i saw this game I was immediately interested in it. I had to start playing the first in preparation and didn't disappoint. It's a damn shame the first game sat there on my steam profile for so long being shoved off to the side while I played other games. After sitting down, and plummeting 50 hours into it, I was even MORE excited for Witcher 2.

Glad the expanded the overall variety of locations and improved the combat though. The first game was great and had really rich environments, but it just felt like there were too few seeing as you back tracked through them too often.

The combat was boring at first but as it opens up it's pretty fun....although group stance was sooo OP. Glad they improved the combat and despite making it more actiony, it doesn't look like they compromised any of the depth in doing so. Although you can always roll around like an idiot if you don't care about combat XD

One of the best "WRPG"/Computer RPGs ever.

Oh, excellent, loved the first one. This one probably won't run on my comp though.
Actually, has anyone read the book?
And yes, the game is based off the book by some Polish dude

Series of books actually, and yes, I've read the two that have been translated into English. They're pretty good, I enjoy them though I also suspect some detail and finesse is lost in the translation.

And bloody hell, apparently there are a couple different trailers that just got released. Here's another!

Amazing work!

I thought The Witcher 1 & 2 took place a couple of years after the books. Unless the information I read was wrong which it could have been. I have not yet read the books but I do plan on buying them soon though.

I believe the name of the author is Andrzej Sapkowski. I could be wrong though.

I really hope my computer can play The Witcher 2. If I have to I will lower the graphics down to their lowest setting.

You're correct on all counts. It's a series of novels that were written in the 90's and became extremely popular in Poland, spawning even a movie and TV tie in series. The games take place after the books, which actually end with Geralt dying leading to one of the prevalent mysteries in The Witcher (game) being how he's alive. A mystery I suspect The Witcher 2 will answer since the trailers tease at it.

That said many of the characters, settings, and even stories carry over from the books so game will make much, much more sense to someone who's read the books. I recommend them. As mentioned, although I suspect the translation might be a bit off in places, the two books translated to English are surprisingly good.

I think the music in this Witcher 2 launch trailer that you linked is beautiful. I hope this is a song from the game so I can get it on the official soundtrack.
