I saw the E3 stuff from the witcher 3, and it looked awesome.

All the more sad that i found Witcher 2 boring as hell, i couldn't get myself to get through the opening missions.

Ah well, maybe i should give it another shot.
Yeah, Witcher 2 was a little bit of a letdown, though compared to most of the stuff out there it was still good.
Those "ZOMG MASSIVE SCALE" bossfights didn't really seem to fit in and everything just seemed a more corridorrized than the first one was.

I love that our choices will matter and affect gameplay directly, rather than just change the colour of the ball of light we get. I love the characters and returning voice actors. I will buy this game.

But I'm very disappointed to hear that it's being developed as a multi-platform title. "Multi-platform" invariably means to the detriment of the PC. I would've been happier if it were a PC game that got ported to consoles.

Bioware slowly died after the EA acquisition and is now only a name with EA developers and no one that actually made Bioware what it was is even there anymore... If they can bring in some new good talent and not have them hounded by time constraints, forced budgets, and investors brining in their stupid opinions then they could possibly make a comeback...
Aye. I've only caught a snippet of what happened, but I didn't really enjoy any of their games after Brent Knowles left.

Do you know how long has Mike Laidlaw been there at all? From his interviews and promo videos he comes across as the veritable teachers-pet, *****-boy who will bend over and take EA's big fat one up him if it means progress. Some of his speil sickens me "well what if we did this? or introduced clown-like darkspawn? And scrapped everything that requires half a brain? wouldn't that be "cool"?"

I dunno why, but it feels as if he's been a massive ball and chain on game development. Maybe it's because he's so overly enthusiastic about elements of the games which totally ruin them.
That is why EA heads love him... If anyone even has a different opinion or challenges EA way of thinking with any form of logic, then EA will make them look like the problem and fire them or make being there feel like hell till they quit out of the pure bs EA does...

So, like this?

Seriously though, CD Projekt haven't failed us yet. Furthermore, to have declared this in a post-ME3-disaster world? It's either foolishness or certitude. I'll bet the cost of pre-ordering the collector's edition that it's the latter.

It is probably just going to be summaries of different quests like in Fallout.
"After sleeping with Geralt, never saw him again and never showed any interest in searching for him."
vs.
"Because was not rescued by Geralt, no intercourse could happen but nobody really cared."

There hasn't been a good bioware game since Dragon Age: Origins, and that was finished before EA bought Bioware, they delayed the release to port it to the consoles once EA had a hold of them. When Brent Knowles left bioware after he saw what was to be DA2, Bioware hasn't been the same. They've lost devs that made Bioware a good company, even the doctors left bioware, and they created the dev studio, says something, eh?

OT: And I can't wait for The Witcher 3, I quite enjoyed TW2. Maybe CDPR could host a forum which EAware employees could attend on how to make a game with choices. :p

Knowing CDPR they would rather cut resources on the console versions if it came down to it. They know the PC is where their primary fanbase is and they should also know that PC gamers are much pickier than console gamers so I wouldn't worry about the PC version too much.

EDIT: And besides they themselves will probably want to play the PC version seeing as the Xbone version won't even work in their country.

Considering the endings in The Witcher II and the choices you could make there I can see the endings of Witcher III being very diverse indeed.

I mean, you essentially get to choose to kill the last dragon seen in hundreds of years and your actions will dictate the power concentration of the Northern Realms

I'm replaying Witcher II at the moment actually and making very different choices and I am already seeing content I haven't before. I feel bad about siding with the Elves though as Vernon Roache is such an awesome dude.

Its being released on PS4, and seeing as the first two aren't on PS3 and my laptop probably couldn't support them,
I REALLY hope that they do some sort of HD collection for the witcher where the first 2 are bundled together for next gen consoles a la the God Of War collection.

As much faith as I have in the developers, I already expect these differences to be something like "Geralt still kills the monster, but this time he wears a green hat!"

I demand an ending like the one shown at the end of Yahtzee's review of the Witcher.

"20 Minutes. Puffer fish."

I expect quite allot of this will just simply revolve around how much of game you complete prior to finishing the the main quest and how much is left to resolve itself or never to be resolved.

The main quest is a very self centred quest that is all about Geralt, Yennefer, Triss and the Wild Hunt. And resolving just sorts out Geralt fate, it does almost nothing to help anyone else.

But whilst all that is Geralt's main focus there is massive war going, there are entire cities and towns that are at the mercy of powerful monsters eating them for dinner, and of course there are very bad men exploiting the chaos to get rich. Not to mention Geralt's friend will probably need helping or saving.

So I expect Geralt completing or not completing all this optional stuff will effect the ending as much as the more personal choices Geralt makes in the main quest.

Also I heard a rumour there is a Geralt dies ending, but that is just a rumour.

I call nonsense PR speak. But since it's CDPR we should blindly accept anything they say.

And I call baseless conjecture on this. There are plenty of developers from the supposed 'Golden Years' at BioWare still working with the studio, ranging from writers to designers. Hell, the oft (and unfairly) maligned Mike Laidlaw has been around since the development of Jade Empire, and he was Lead Designer on Dragon Age: Origins. People tend to overlook that particular part of his ludography.

Can't wait to see it, an open world Witcher game could be very interesting and I kinda hope they let you just do the monster hunting side of it as much as you like and fill the world with lots of interesting monsters.

Where are people getting the idea that it will be a culmination of all three games? Last I read it was just that the game kept getting bigger and needed more endings to cover all the changes the player made on his or her journey.

Once you get past the first half of chapter 1 the game gets a lot better in my opinion.

Actually the same could be said of the first game, CD Projekt really ought to do something about that..

So are these gonna' be 36 distinct and different endings or are they gonna' be "different endings" like Mass Effect 3 had?
Based on the comments made by the studio back when Checkpoint was mocking this, the latter. There will likely be tiny nuances for various endings but very little earth-shattering.

You're right, and I know you're right. But still...just hearing the term "multi-platform" immediately equates to "worse on PC". It will mean compromise though, it has to, at least for the UI, if not the gameplay mechanics.
