Jack grins and idly begins whistling too.

Iowa Jack threw a rock at Jack's face. "... That wasn't very satisfying. I think I'm over whistling now"

 

[Ruedyn]

"... I get the feeling you enjoy touching rusty things and value loneliness and privacy more than most people." Kovac looks around, another whistler. Smartass or another grenadier? "I get the feeling we're all getting a rough start. Anyone want to show themselves, friendly greeting? Please?"

 

[Demonjazz]

"I enjoy money! I was gifted by the great Kali to see gold in dirt and have amazing agility, strength, and mining skills. I was later gifted by Horus to be able to see gems and other items in the dirt too. So if those rusty things are worth something than yes."

Jack caught the rock, then let if fall with a thump onto the chest. Then with surprising agility, he swung down from his perch and held out his hand to the not quite as anger person.

 

[Demonjazz]

"Oh wow. You scratched my wooden chest. Whatever am I going to do." He said ignoring the person's extended hand and sat on his chest.

 

[Ruedyn]

"Er, hello there strange tree-man. I'm Kovac, third generation Dirtamancer. Please don't hurt me." The boy extended his own hand.

Jack took Kovac's hand and shoot it. When he finished he opened his mouth as if to start speaking only to pause and close it after a moment. He reached a hand into his jacket (The only thing he had to cover his bare chest, Kovac would notice) and pulled out a pen and paper, on which he quickly scribbled:

Sigma stepped out from behind a tree. This was not where shed left her house.
"Thats what you get"

Lester continued moving towards the person without making a sound, before realizing the person had turned into a group of people. Making a potentially dangerous move, he elects to reveal himself to the group.
"Uh, hello everyone. You're all, uh, friendly right?"

 

[SamRatsbane]

"Oh, huh." A large-ish group of people had gathered around Ribbon and she hadn't noticed. The gap here in her memory indicated that she'd legitimately fallen asleep on her feet. The sudden emergence of four-ish people within her sensory perception would have been alarming were this not a fairly common occurrence; as it happened, she'd once lost a job when she fell asleep in the middle of photocopying a document and then woke up in the middle of reciting one of Hitler's less socially tactful speeches.

Hopefully she hadn't said anything to offend any of these gentlemen while she'd been dozing. Ribbon was 4'11'', and on top of that she was chubby. Not a real physical powerhouse, and while she had powers they didn't know about, as was the way of The World they almost certainly had powers she didn't know about too.

Ribbon edged over to the smallest man in the group, the sandy-haired boy. "Listen, did I, like, say anything just now? Anything potentially, uh... y'know, unfriendly?"

Jack decides to take advantage of Kovac's silence to smile and introduce himself to the new girl, which he achieves by holding up the piece of paper he showed Kovac.

 

[SamRatsbane]

"Ah, hey, writing. Man, 's been a while since I read anything." Ribbon's vision was perma-blurry, so she had to squint for a while to make out what was on the paper. ""G-g'day..." Oh, hey, man. I'm, uh, Ribbon. Can you hear me alright, or do you want me to write something down too?" It didn't strike Ribbon for a second that if Jack had trouble hearing, he'd have trouble hearing her say that, too.

Jack continued smiling and shook his head, before putting pen to paper again and writing out another message;

Nice to meet you Ribbon, and I can hear fine, speaking...not so much.

 

[SamRatsbane]

Ribbon squinted again and took another couple of seconds to read Jack's new note. "Oh man, I totally know how you feel. Yeah, I get it. I mean, I can talk okay, but, like... no, I can relate. That sucks."

That nagging thought in the back of Ribbon's head, the idea that these guys had potentially dangerous affinities that she didn't know about, wouldn't leave her alone. She devised a means of covertly uncovering their abilities and bringing them out into the open.

"Hey, so what's you guys' affinities? I mean, as far as I can tell we're about as far away from civilization as it gets, and I'm the only cute girl here, so I don't want none of you beating me up and then having your way with me or nothin'."

Jack quickly wrote out the word;

Sharp

and showed it to Ribbon, before he realized that didn't explain much, and quickly added;

I like sharp things, and I guess I consider myself pretty sharp.

He also pointed to the other girl, the one that had stepped out from behind a tree and shrugged.

Despite failing to receive an answer from the group, Lester decided to speak up once more.
"Affinities? Oh...mine's Sound...and I don't think anyone here wants to have their way with you."
Lester quickly realized the implications of his previous statement.
"Oh, but not cause you're ugly! Just uh...I'm sure everyone is kind enough to not think about doing that. I'll be shutting up about that."

Smooth mate, smooth.

Jack wrote on the steadily overcrowded piece of paper.

"Do you only have one piece of paper? I had a notepad in my car, if you want me to go find it."
Lester scratched his head awkwardly.

 

[SamRatsbane]

"Haha, you're a real gentleman, new guy! That's good to hear," Ribbon chuckled, giving the newcomer a playful shove. Noticing that Jack was pointing at something, Ribbon turned to the direction he was indicating and spotted Sigma. "Oh, shit, a chick! Geez, that's awesome. I thought I was the only one here." Ribbon waved at the murderer, and gestured for her to come over and join the rest of the group.
