Fair enough... By association though, John Travolta... I forget, was he ever good in a film?
:p I was actually going to name him but forgot how to spell his last name and didn't feel like looking it up.

And no, no he hasn't.

Broken Arrow is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen...made even funnier by the fact that it's not supposed to be funny.
Now I think of it, He is probably the most famous, crap actor to appear in one of history's worst films ever made...

I think I have to call /thread at this point...
You see...he was in this film, I dunno if you've heard about it, but it's...

Pulp Fiction, ************, have you seen it!?

He was a great actor in that film.
It's a testament to how bad he has been recently that I forgot all about Pulp Fiction. Still, one good role (supporting an ensemble cast at that), doesn't make up for a lifetime of mediocre to utterly awful performances.

Hey, what about Hairspray? He did a pretty good middle aged woman.

A lot of people here bitching about people who only play themselves like Tom Cruise but when the role is written for your personality it still works. And if you're going to bag actors for only playing themselves you have to put Patrick Stewart in that group. Because he can only play one role (in various forms)...

But there's also -

John Malkovich a stage actor who always over-acts on film, yet he has been a couple of good films so there's...

Adam Sandler a 'comedy' actor who is never honest, or funny, but he was good in Punch Drunk Love so there's...

Nicolas Cage is incredibly hit and miss but he's been great a few times...

Dana Carvey terrible actor but is hardly in movies so I'm going for...

Either Halle Berry (just terrible), Jessica Alba (zero depth, cannot play darker roles) or Paul Walker (so funny in Fast & the Furious he's almost good).

Dwayne Johnson but he's still a bad ass when he's acting shit, that said Faster was good because he hardly said a word. You know who needs more work? Steve Buscemi awesome actor.

Kristen Stewart, Nicholas Cage, and Rene Zellweger (she isn't even deserving of having her name spelled correctly, she's that terrible).

The second because he can't display any emotion in any realistic fashion.
Bad Lieutenant. Con Air. Leaving Las Vegas. National Treasure. Vampire's Kiss. <color=f7f7f7>/trollface on the last one

Try again?
I've never heard of the first, and National Treasure was shit (particularly or especially as far as his acting goes).

The others may be great, but they're also not even from this millennium. He has not been a good actor in over a decade.

Try again?

That's quite the hate train for Michael Cera. Glad we're not so few in number.

He's the only actor I can think of who makes me want to pummel his face into jelly and bone chips every time he puts on a performance. I really liked Scott Pilgrim, but I swear I'd love it if they got someone fucking decent to play Scott.

Adam Sandler is awful. Really awful. As well as Owen Wilson, genuinely laughed at the end of "Marley and Me" because I wanted to see him hurt (and he couldn't really pull that off).

The Bad Lieutenant came out in 2009, oh smug one. He was also good in Kick Ass, which was a 2010 release (though that character lacked the same depth).

the only thing notable about nick cages performance in kick ass was that nick cage was in kick ass.

he pulled nothing out the hat and the entire role could have been done by some no name and it would have zero plus or minus effect on the flim.

just because someone is in a "good" movie doesn't mean they added to the movie or that they are a "good" actor.
You originally asked for "believable emotions" (go and check). "Adding and taking nothing from the film" doesn't sound like standard Cage "I'm eMOOOOOTinnnnng!" acting.

Vin Diesel?
I mean, the guy can only play 1 character - Vin Diesel.
Well, so does John Wayne. But God have mercy on you if you dare say that about the Duke.

Anyway, I'd have to cast my vote on Adam Sandler. I really wouldn't have minded his lowest common denominator comedy if it wasn't so damned lazy. Case in point: Jack and Jill.

No I mean the one where he plays a simle-minded yet lovable criminal who upon finding out that he can't have a child with his wife, goes out to kidnap a baby.

Or how about the one where he plays the Elvis-loving semi-psychotic convict that travels America with his girlfriend listening to rock music and being chased by the messed up assasins ever seen in a film.

You know, his good films.
Don't forget Leaving Las Vegas.

I have officially had enough of Johnny Depp. How long has he been playing the same scenery-chewing weirdo? At this point, the only thing differentiating his characters is the accent he affects or the costume he wears...and that's an either/or option, by the by.
