ITT, we discuss who we believe the worst actor currently working in the business is. This is primarily focusing on notable Hollywood actors, so avoid citing B-movie actors (Tommy Wiseau) or actors that most people wouldn't know. The criteria for awfulness is yours to decide, though acting ability is mostly what I had in mind when creating this thread. Just be sure to state why you think they're the worst of the worst. If you want to include one male and one female feel free to do so.

I would have included directors in the title as well, but I get the feeling that Uwe Boll would be a shoo-in for top honors. Regardless, you can throw some directing names out there if you so desire.

My vote goes to Sam Worthington.

Sam Worthington Without a doubt, he instantly popped into my head when I saw the title of the thread...Made me chuckle when I saw your vote was for him to!

But yes, that man is just god awful..

"Just be sure to state why you think they're the worst of the worst."

You should do that, too, as I'd like to know your reasoning behind Worthington. Is it his inability to hold an accent, that he always fails to show emotion, or something else? Inquiring minds and all that jazz.

OT: Let's see. I just watched The Scorpion King 2, so can I just list the entire cast? Oh, right, needs to be mainstream actors. Does Schwarzenegger count? 'Cause he can't show any emotion either. (One good role and casting decision -- for an emotionless android nonetheless -- does not make him good.)

Edit: Oh, I forgot to say a female. Eva Mendes, no question about it. Never good in anything. Ever. I'd say (in fact, I have said) she's worse than Megan Fox, really.

I have to say that Kristen Stewart. The woman has no talent, she just does the zombie face all the time. Not just in Twilight, in other movies too. I honestly don't know how she got in the business. To be fair though, Bella strikes me as being more than a little stupid in the books, so I suppose she fit that role at least. [/rant]

Not sure which male actor, there are a few pretty awful ones. :)

Fuck!

Okay okay... I probably have to go with Sam Worthington too. He's just so... bland and unremarkable. Like he's dumbly stumbling through every scene of every film he's in. He's almost like the Silence from Doctor Who. As soon as you look away, you instantly forget him.

I'm sure there's someone who's worse but I can't think of them right now. It'll probably come to me eventually.

Jack Black and Eddie Murphy, as a rule. There are exceptions in their older work, but today all their stuff feels tired and unfunny.
For the ladies it's Sarah Jessica Parker.

Edit: Also there's the obvious Taylor Lautner, who has the acting ability of a Starfish.

Really? Jack Black? I can't remember too many bad roles that he has done. Year One and Gulliver's Travels were both awful, but those are the only two that really spring to mind. Bernie, his most recent film, got good reviews.

Kristen Stewart, she's so bland. Watching her is like watching paint dry. Hell watching paint dry would be more exciting to watch.

If anyone says Nicholas Cage I'll punch you!!! He's the greatest actor of all time, I love him.

Ahem. Actress, I agree with Kristen Stewart. Her one facial expression is so annoying. I wouldn't exactly say she was attractive either, so I'm not sure how she gets work...
Actors, I'm not too sure of. There's something about Daniel Radcliffe that annoys me. He's got much better over the years but still seems a little wooden sometimes. Definitely not the worst though.
I'll have a think about it and come back >_> <_<

I've actually enjoyed Sam Worthington. His problem though is the character rolls he's elected to play; they haven't really showcased his potential. Equally Luke Gross, seems like the guy keeps holding back. But, that's a rant for another day...

Nicholas Cage. He plays the same character in. every. god. damned. movie. And he does every god damned movie. It could be a Disney princess film and he'd play the same guy from a movie about the psychological horrors of sexual deprived sociopaths. Sure he can dress it up a little bit like he did in Kick Ass, but he was still the same guy in a different shade of glasses.

Mark Walburg. His Bostonian cop from the Departed was his best role, and even then it was atrociously stereotyped. I just don't get him, no charisma, no stage presence, trite acting and roles that any trained monkey could do.

I would have happily voted for DiCaprio pre Departed. But lately he's really grown into his own. I'm continually impressed by his chops after he went through puberty. ;)

Equally Ashton Kutcher. The Butterfly Affect proved he can act, he just continually chooses shitty roles.

And Jack Fucking Black. What is his deal? He's a fucking annoying humorless fat guy who acts like Nicholas Cage. It always involves being overly dramatic when the situation doesn't call for it and proving a little chaos makes everything better! Grow up you perpetual stereotype teenager rebellion at authority.

Dang, need to throw some women in there...

Kristin Stewart. She's made being an emotionally unstable and un-expressive actress into a fine art. She is a perfect example of what women continually complain about men.

Keira Nightley. Might have been her attempt at duality in Pirates. Might have been her attempt at badassery in Domino. I dunno, I just don't like her.

Liv Tyler. For the love of god woman; JUST CRY ALREADY! You've obviously been holding it in for years. Do yourself a favor and just let it out.

Megan Fox. I don't think she's acting; I think that's just who she is.

Ok, I've gotta stop myself...

Bring it on! You can love him all you want, but loving him doesn't accuse his lack of talent.

Marky Mark Wahlberg is the most talentless actor around at the moment. The guy also looks like a total douche as well. He should just quit acting altogether and start making talentless music for teens like he used to, that way I wouldn't have to see his stupid mug in a film ever again.

Nicolas Cage is a terrible actor, but he does have a certain charm, even if he is in roles that are absolutely god awful (see the Wickerman, and 90 per cent of the other films he has been in).

Here's a good example of classic Cage charm.

...and here's Nic Cage pulling a bad English impression in National Treasure 2.

Daniel Radcliff isn't the best actor either, but he's still young, so there's still a lot of time for improvement.

Does Kate Beckinsale have any talent beyond looking relatively attractive in leathery costumes?

I'm completely amazed that a mediocre film like Underworld spawned as many sequels as it did and the only reason anyone can ever give me for why they spent their time/money watching them is because "Kate Beckinsale kicks high...boobs." (I may be paraphrasing there.)

I know she's been in other movies but I had to check IMDB to remember any of them because she is not leading role material. Unless she's in a fetishy costume of some sort apparently.

Also, Megan Fox for pretty much the same reason except replace Beckinsale's mediocrity with outright terrible acting skills and an over reliance on generic "hot chick" flirty moves instead of an ability to emote and project.

Michael Cera since he doesn't ACT in any of his movies, he always just plays himself.

Will Farrell may be the least funny man on the planet. Annoying is not funny. Dear gods, someone stop him from making movies.

EDIT:

Ugh. Can I pick two? I hate that guy. He has like the most punchable face I've ever seen. I'm not even a violent person, and I just want to pummel him. And his acting is awful, too.

Another thing I hate about the guy.

He's too fucking apologetic.

'It's my fault Indiana Jones 4 was terrible.'

No, fuck you Lebeouf, you're part of why IJ 4 was terrible, the best actor in the world couldn't have saved that piece of crap.

Surprised no one mentioned Adam Sandler. He and his little rat pack of Grown Ups (Scheider, Spade) would be funny believing they are funny, if it wasn't pathetic.
