As much as people love to drool over Half-Life and bash on other shooters, primarily Halo, I had much more fun playing just about any other shooter (Halo, CoD, GoW) then playing HL2 and the DLC.
Half-Life, while having above-average gameplay, only really shines if you let yourself immerse in the story and get to know the characters. It gets to the point where it's a lot like reading a good book with a little interactiveness thrown in. Also, for its time, the physics engine was so over-the-top, never-before-seen amazing, which gave it about 3,000 novelty points.
Honestly the characters did nothing for me. I never got attacthed to any of the characters. That and the story being pretty conveluded(sp?) just led to me not caring about either the story or characters. I was basically just going from point a to point b, not knowing why or for what. I actually learned more about the plot of Half-Life 2 by going back and reading about it later then when I played the game which is kind of sad.

So basically my enjoyment of the game boiled down to pure gameplay, which was definitely good don't get me wrong, but was soon eclipsed by other games.

I have 2.
Fallout 3 - Terrible blend of FPS with RPG elements. I also never got the point of "Pause the game, aim for head, 75% chance of instant death to creature." Pathfinding was more of a pain than Far Cry 2, and the overall questing and story were dull, to say the least.
Hmm, it sounds like it's just not your game then? Because all of those things, other people enjoy.

+1 for Half Life series. Great games, not the best.

Perfect Dark. I know, it's like GoldenEye, but supposedly better. I don't agree. I found it highly unintuitive, and very Nintendo Hard. You had to die a minimum of three times in each mission before you'd beat it, merely because they designed it inconveniently.

Sure, the multiplayer was supposedly the strength of the game, but I wasn't too impressed with it either, at least not on a tiny TV set with four players. I couldn't make out what was going on through all the environmental effects and explosions. It was stupid.

It certainly doesn't look at good as it did before Fallout 3 came out, I'll agree.

Sonic Unleashed. But don't believe Yahtzee's review of the Wii version, i'm referring the 360 version, the REAL version. While I can agree the Wii version was everything he said and more, the 360 version was great to me, but not as great as so many Furry Homo-erotica drawing fanboys/fangirls have said. It could have been longer, Sonic levels could have had a bit more length as well. Werehog levels were pretty good, haven't played God Of War, but I can see similarities from footage. Bosses aside the few last ones are fucking jokes. Chip was ok, but unneeded. Framerate issues in one level and a hub. Hubs are kinda pointless besides the FUCKING TWO MEDALS medals in them for each time of day. Graphics are great, cartoony animation like this worked well for a game about Anthropomorphic animals fighting a fat Teddy Roosevelt. And the two flying stages were just two long QTEs. Overall, far greater than 06, but that isn't saying much in the long run. I like it, but not perfect.

i got a few;

Halo 2 3 and halo wars (1 was the good one in my eyes)
Bioshock (i was bored after 30 mins)
Fallout 3, just didnt capture me like the original fallouts did, heck, i even liked Fallout: tactics better.
Starcraft, it never caught me, was more of a warcraft 2 guy.
WoW, after the hype before its launch, the actual game was a major bummer, add that you have a company that kills its own lore and its made of fail for me.
Any Call of Duty.
Quake. i'll have doom over it any day XD

thats all i can think of right now...

How about we try to come up with a best 'worst game ever,' huh?

Anyway, uhh.. probably Gears of War. Or God of War. Metal Gear Solid 2. GTA4 also is kinda' dull.

Any of the Tomb Raider games. They never ever did it for me, they were horrendously boring and I couldn't control the character at all.

CoD4. I thought it was a good shooter with a good single-player mode, but way overrated. Ghillies in the Mist was fantastic but the other missions weren't much to shout about. I didn't care much for the multiplayer either.

Halo 3. A decent game made out to be the messiah of games. Bad campaign, bad matchmaking, story was ruined. Forge would not as great as it should have been, but was ok.

I have to agree with all of this, but I can't comment on Forge. I never found putting objects on a map, but not being able to alter the map itself, to be entertaining.

The Sim City/Sims series. I know they are crazy popular, but I have always been bored by them.

Halo 3, Half-Life 2, Bioshock.

Halo 3: I don't like the fact that there isn't much strategy on the Online play. Literally battle comes down to two players running at each other guns blaring. The victory goes to either who ever has that stronger gun or who ever hits melee first.

Half-Life2: I really don't have a reason I don't like this game other than it's not that good a game.

Bioshock: It's a good game, don't get me wrong, but the entire time you're wandering around hoping to get a healing item. If you don't find one before the enemy finds you you're screwed.

[EDIT] Pokemon. Liked it when I was 9 now it's just too much work.

*YAWN* oh where was I??
I totally agree. Such a disappointment as a platformer fan. Might I add FF7. Now I haven't played it nor will I due to my friends wouldn't shut up about it. They didn't spoil anything, but it got rather annoying.

I agree, also Half-Life 2 was incredibly "meh".
Just to make sure, for the people who think HL:2 was 'meh', did you play the first Half-Life? Makes it much more enjoyable.

if someone says portal THEY WILL FEEL MY WRATH, that game was amazing
oh god....wrath you say, this is gona end up with me in a dumpster...I thought portal was good, but it was very gimicky, and the novelty wore off on me very quickly. I think what made it as popular as it was was the fact that it was included in the orange box, which was a very reasonalbe price for everything you were getting in it. TBH it was a frickin steal pricewise, but if it was a stand alone game for a regualar price tag I dont think i would have rushed out to buy it, waited til it came down to discount price and then snap it up.
