In video games? (duh doy or why else would this be in the video game section)

That's easy >>>this dumb ass scene right here
Aaaaand we have our winner!

Half-way through the story mode, I was thinking to myself, "Hmm! This is Mortal Kombat, and barely two characters have actually died so far. Not exactly true to the spirit of the series, but hey, not really that big a deal in story mode."

Then this scene happens.

I seriously stopped playing, and didn't pick it up again for another six fucking months I was so done.

How about Roland from Borderlands 2. New-You's aren't cannon... go fuck yourselves.
While it did annoy me to no end, I also wonder why Jack doesn't get resurrected. I can only imagine that Jack has deleted the pattern from the New You for Roland to die. Even then, its stretching it too much.
The reason the lead writer gave was that New-you's aren't part of the Borderland's cannon. which is ridiculous because he himself wrote a mission where using the New-you was integral to completing it.

Burch is a pretty good writer he's just not concerned with the Mechanics of storytelling. (Which pisses me off because that's my favorite part of writing)
He'd rather throw an emotional set piece at us instead of setting up the lore in a way that makes sense.

The parents deaths are absolutely ridiculous.
That is desperate and contrived and very stupid.
Come on mother, lets go! Let's take father with us and get help! I'm sure we can fight our way out!
Duncan can fireman carry father, lets go!
You did just carve your way through a ENTIRE FREAKING CASTLE! You are so tough you can probabely be pointman!
So you're going to wait here and die, huh. For no reason whatsoever.
They ar'nt even doing it to detonate a bomb with a broken trigger or something!

They desperately and contrivedly kill them off so they can make it like the other origins, with less ties left, which is very stupid.
What's worst is that you can't refuse going with Duncan. You respond by saying that you want to stay and save them. They say "No! You must go to the Grey wardens!". You respond by telling that you won't abandon them and Duncan says "Right of conscription" and the scenes cuts off and now your character is ok with it? for some reasons? Maybe on their way to Ostagar, Duncan made the world's greatest stew or something.

Spoiler, spoilers, not looking, not looking...

Chidori's death in Persona 3. It felt really forced for the sake of Junpei's character development. In past cutscenes, Aigis was able to use her guns. So... why was Takaya's revolver more plot-relevant at the time? In the entire time when Revolver Jesus was gloating, couldn't Aigis have peppered him with bullets to stop Junpei from getting shot and needing Chidori's sacrifice?

I'm glad people mentioned Mortal Kombat. Seriously, develop Sindel as a character before using her as a hero-killing nuke. It was a lazy way to make room for MKX's roster.

Man, there are so many I could probably do this all day.
King Arthur's death in the finale was so dumb that it basically invalidated the entire show. So the whole point of the show was to groom Arthur to become a great king, this was constantly reinforced by prophecy after prophecy, and what do we get after all of this grooming and preparation? He was king for a couple of years before he kicked the bucket. What the heck? Why was it so important that he become the perfect king when his servant wife will have a far more lasting impact on the direction of the kingdom
Tarloc's death was so pointless and weird. Like okay he actually turned out to be evil, kind of, a little, even though he wanted to be better than his father, but he had already realized that he was doing bad and probably would have tried to redeem himself after coming to this conclusion. I have no clue why he thought the best solution would be to suicide bomb Amon, especially since Amon seemed repentant aswell. If anything Tarloc should have died from the break neck speed he turned around his character from being a power hungry jerk to being suicidally desperate to take out Amon for the greater good. And what kind of message is this anyway? If you have bad parents you can't escape being a bad person aswell should kill yourself and your family because you are irredeemable
Protagonists death came completely out of nowhere and was completely unexplained in the actual game. Like, if he was so freaking exhausted that he was dying from it, why could he hang on for like a month? I just thought it was really unsatisfying way to end a game and was a pointless downer ending, and was actually so unclear that I initially thought that the main character had just fallen asleep for whatever reason, I guess cause he was bored of waiting for everybody or something.
So you kill off the big bad with a music box? Why was this guy such a threat anyway? When I first played this game, this was probably the most anticlimactic ending to a game I had ever experienced.
Voldemort's death was so anticlimactic and stupid. He pretty much died because of a wand ownership dispute. If that isn't the most ridiculous way for a main villain to die, I don't know what is. It's like if Sauron from Lord of the Rings died because Frodo showed up with a magic property chart making his tower explode because he didn't have the zoning permit for giant spikey eyeball towers.

Left 4 Dead: The Sacrifice.
Specifically how the death played out in-game.
Seriously, you start the generator then you trip, that's it. Wish they'd make it a bit better like a cut scene or something but oh well.
