Metroid Other M. Granted, it didn't have the worst gameplay ever, but it is the only game that has ever given me nightmares.
Hrr....

Honestly, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

It boring, which is the worst thing a game can do. I've never played the original but just seen it and picked it up on a whim, I like the superhero genre on the whole. I managed to get just past the prologue and took the disk out and will never put it back in.

To Clarify even if I don't like a game I tend to try my best to complete it (I got through Iron Man 2!!!) But I have never been so bored (or disapointed) by a game as I was by MUA2.

I know it sounds wrong, but GTA IV. History's shittiest games have gotten enough publicity that I knew in advance to avoid them. I really got suckered into GTA IV though, it got such insane reviews that I knew it had to be great. What I got was like 60+ hours of greasy orange-brown graphics, constant irritation from all of my cell phone contacts, awkward movement controls that turned the smallest ledge into the largest chore, meaningless side quests that added nothing to the main game, and basically an overlong repetitive drudge of a time-waster. The voice acting was great, and that wasn't enough to save it.

Worst, as in so-bad-its-good,
or worst, as in so-bad-its-horrible?

If it's the latter, I have to say any Sonic game made between 1998 and 2009. That includes both Sonic Adventures.

I'm sure there have been worse, but what comes to mind now is Final Fantasy 13. And if someone plans to tell me it gets better after 20 hours or so, save it please (that's more of an insult to a game, than a compliment)

The worst game I have ever played? Hmmm, Too Human hands down.

Honourable mention to Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.

Obviously I haven't played every game ever but Jesus that game was so bad.

And I only paid £10 for it and I still felt robbed!
My friend said it's designed for co-op, but I can't speak for myself as I have yet to try it.
Me and my boyfriend played through it together.

Let's just say that we stopped seeing each other shortly thereafter.

Hunted: The Demon's Forge. It was like Gears of War: Elf edition, with all the things that made Gears of War any good at all removed.
Wow I wish I played your games. Hunted wasn't even that bad compared to some of the broken crap I have played.

Blowout on the PS2 for me

My worst was Eragon, the video game adaptation of the shitty as hell movie based off the seminally good book series. Poor gameplay, awful story line, horrendous graphics, and downright unexcusable glitches and bugs. Everything about that game infuriated me, and I only persisted to the end because the final level was meagerly good.

I didn't like Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night.
Something about getting knocked back endlessly and having to refight endless hoards if I die and the too long levels without save points got to me.

As to OP's question: captain Novolin was actually the worst game I have ever played.

Astounding. You know what other people really think of things moreso than they themselves do.

Why are you not selling your skill to the world?!

That game was so bad that after playing for fifteen minutes I returned it to Gamestop. While the concept of racing hovercars is awesome, racing hovercars at 8 miles per hour only to fall through the map again is not.

Oh boy, there's several contenders.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance- The GBA version, that is. While the console version is a Diablo-esque action RPG, the GBA version tries to be an early 90's beat-em-up. And it fails. The gameplay is broken, the graphics literally look they were made with MS Paint, and even had it been good it only lasts an hour anyways. It's just a pointless waste of time. On a side note, the DS version of MUA2 is also horrible thanks to non-existent AI and the worst camera I have ever seen. But it's not quite as bad as its GBA predecessor.

Star Wars prequel games- Or to be more specific, Phantom Menace on PS1 and Attack of the Clones on GBA. I feel kind of bad knocking them since I enjoyed them as a kid, but looking back...good god, what was I smoking? I give some props to Phantom Menace for using the dialogue system that would later be used in KoTOR, but that's it. Episode 2 is a terrible bland beat-em-up with really bad controls.

The GBA/DS version of Episode 3 was pretty good, though.

Sonic 2006- Must.Not.Write.Essay. To sum it up: it sucks. It really, really sucks. I hate everything about it, from the lack of speed, the alternate gameplay styles, the controls, and the insultingly stupid story. And this is coming from someone who liked Shadow the Hedgehog, so believe me, it's bad.

The Dune game.

No, not the 'loltankrush' RTS' by Westwood back when they existed. I mean 'adventure game' Dune.

Just...

Wow. That was awful.
