Grandt theft auto liberty city stories. All you get is a palm on sholuder for saving your bosses life a billion times. And btw dont sit through the credits they are about 40 min long and there's nothing after them!

Haven't seen this thread before...

The ending for Final Fantasy X was pretty shit.
The endings of FFX-2 were worse -_- apart from the one they didn't believe deserves a properly animated cutscene, where you destroy all os spira xD and actually... wait, you replied to someone else saying you were joking. phew hahaha. because i actually enjoyed the ending, thought it was pretty brave of them to take the route of Tidus and Yuna actually not being with each other.
but yeah, FFX-2, even worse, like i said. kinda upturned the ending of FFX-2 if you know what i mean. X-2 was definatly for the fangirls who have their head in the clouds about love (you know, the ones who believe in fairytales and love twilight for more than just the chests)... and to make it easier for hentai writers.

And Golden Sun comes to mind, the first time I played I didn't know it was just part of a story, so when it ended it was a huge let down. I was pretty pissed off until I found there was a part 2 coming.
hahahaha, i remember that happening to me too! i panicked when the credits came, saying "but... but, i still have... 2 .... 2 lighthouses, please :'( don't..." and then later realising that there was a "pass game on" thing, which made me realise there must be a conclusion. conclusion came and oddly, i was annoyed at the opening. suddenly i was playing as Felix... til i realised that actually, that could make the plot very interesting later... and i was proved right.

Urrrm, i don't know, i want to put Silent Hill: Shattered memories, but i actually really do like that ending, but i know many would have been annoyed by it. i thought it was quite good, even though the psychological game changing parts dissapointed me slightly... is that how psychologists and people would view me? as a person who is very scared of the female body (i say this because everything i saw seemed to be sexualised, have less clothes than necessary, etc. and i think that was down to game changes in attempts to scare me)

got one, Animal Crossing for DS... that ending ticked me off... got the game in what, 2005 25th of the 12th, played it for 94 years and 6 days, new years eve, time reverts back to 2000, 1st of the 1st and there i am, empty handed as i didn't have a DS or the game at that point in time. frikking rip-off.

ah, okay, seriously this time, Dead Rising. this double dissapointed me as BOTH endings pee-eed me off  urgh, just remembering it... i don't care for spoilers at this point, this game is considered a "classic" now so you should have damn played it. and if you've never had a 360 as you have a PS3 instead, then it shouldn't matter to you, as i doubt you'd get a 360.
the canon endings (Rank A ending, for doing all story missions and surviving til the end), i get to the place on time, Helicoptor guy comes to get me. theres a (frikking) zombie in his helicoptor, which gets him midjourney, he crashes, Frank falls onto his knees and despairs, camera zooms out, revealing that somehow the plot point of Zombies not being able to get into Air ventilation shafts doesn't exist anymore, as Zombies crowd around him. Okay, so its not a Happy ending, i guess i'm usually opposed to those. but loads of bad shit had occured already. Those CIA people were both dead, that dudes sister was despairing somewhere, and these army guys had killed all the hostages i'd been trying to save in the chopper. So if just me and the chopper guy escaped, i'd have considered that a perfect ending, enough unhappiness to satisfy how much i hated fairy-tale endings, but enough to make me feel like i'd really done something.
okay, so it adds more to the story, i thought when i found out, i guess that could redeem it. that ending ponces along, farting as it does so. Cool, a hand to hand battle on a tank with a bald army man, this could be- OW, fudge... i just.. counters all my moves... all of them bar the... what was it, knee drop i think. that reduces what could have been a very fun "see if you checked the combo button moves in order to defeat this guy to", quick! jump and press down and x to kill baldy.... AND AGAIN!... HE'S NOT DEAD YET, TRY AGAIN! its almost like playing as Ken from Street Fighter (http://www.halolz.com/2009/03/02/ken-flowchart/)

and when i finally beat the guy, he smiles, half alive falls off the tank and the zombies start nomming him (did i mention the tank was surrounded by zombies? its not like they do much anyway, if he kicks you off, you just get back up as they don't to want to eat you, jump onto their heads/shoulders and get the achievement for walking a distance on Zombie heads). Then you look over to the dead-guys girl who i mentioned earlier (she saved you from last ending cutscene and you've been trying to escape) and she's ontop of a different vehicle, which is getting shaken by the zombies and she's screaming. then Frank west zones out in despair again, quite like the last ending and it zooms out and up into the sky. then a text paragraph tells us about Frank getting out and publishing a story... HOW THE FUCK DID HE DO THAT!? i thought the tank was un-usable now (too much zombie caught up in the treads or whatever), which is why we fought hand-to-hand on it.

urgh, anyway, unexplained endings annoy me a lot.

haha, funniest ending i've seen is Resident Evil. The PS1 ending and the DS ending. so so funny. they must have had the crappiest budget, as they filmed the opening and ending cutscenes with really bad actors (the voice actors) and had no special effects. or well, the special effect was the picture of the mansion, then the picture of a mansion faded a bit so we could see another one at the same time, one of the explosion... this was an attempt to make the house look like it was exploding... so damn, fucking funny xD i think this was the lamest done ending even in that time!

I'm a huge Silent Hill fan and i bought the Shattered Memories like a good little fanboy that i am about that series. All the game, all the running around just to see that stuff happen and people died... but nothing about the hero (Harry Masson) until you found out that He was married to Dalia Galespie (Major kick in the nuts of the fan) and that it was just a Cherril/Heather Masson psycho moment because she can't get over the dead of her father? So all, everything was pointless. The audio/photo log was pointless because it was all in her head? And not only didn't they "gave a new perspective on the series" with that reboot... but they scrap everything that happen in the later installment. Silent Hill 2? Never happen. Silent Hill 3? Nope. Silent Hill 4? Those character doesn't exist in this world anymore. Wow, I would like to borrow Yahtzee's word for a moment and say that they couldn't have miss the point if the fired in the wrong direction and the point was in another country. And don't ask me to put it in a spoiler tag, that travesty doesn't need such privilege.
Wait, wait. The ending the Shattered Memories was fantastic. It was completely moving and meaningful. Everything you did in the game made complete sense once you watched the ending. Why were so many women chancing after Harry? Why was his mannerisms and clothing changing so often? Why were all these photos and text messages being sent to his phone about drunken school parties and sex in the woods? It was all in Cheryl's head. She's been thinking of what her Dad was like for so long and even having an Electra complex about wanting to have sex with him indirectly.

The SH ending I hated most was for Homecoming. For all that work, you only got a couple seconds with each ending mostly saying "Well that was a trip let's go home now." No thoughtful look back, no traumatized soul, no twist. I was so let down. Even if I didn't enjoy the game I thought for sure they would put effort into endings.

Mostly technically (though not impressed story-wise either), Fallout 3 (yes, Broken Steel fixes it, but that's not an excuse imo, just makes it worse in a way cause they're pretty much forcing you to get it just to fix the issue).

Also Far Cry 2, but it's not fair to bash the ending when the whole story was crap all the way through, it deserves some credit for being consistent.

Agreed on Mirror's Edge, but then I didn't see much story there, it was mostly a Prince of Persia sort of thing in modern world and first person, the main thing was the gameplay.

The Evil ending for Bioshock.

Which apparently I got even if I killed/harvested ONE little sister. I thought I'd be okay, that it would be some kind of like, majority of either saved or harvested would determine. But apparently one tips it to the "you're an insane asshole who sets off to destroy the world"

Not that harvesting a little sister is just a misdemeanor or anything like that, if anything I thought I would get the good ending, but Jack would.. I dunno, have PTSD or nightmares about the little sister thing.
What do you mean I'm evil? I only murdered ONE child for power.

As I have said to many people before, Fable 2 had the most disappointing ending for the fact that the bad guy is a one shot kill, and I expected him to at least put up a fight.
I was about to say that but you said it better
me too i hated that whole little dream thing and i was expecting something epic like in Fable 1 with the final battle and in Fable 1 Lost Chapters where u fight the dragon

Gotta go with Assassins Creed 2. I mean, it was just so wierd and cryptic.
Apparantley, the Bible was wrong, and the Romans and whatnot who believed in Gods were right. Except they were also wrong, because these things that they thought were gods were actually aliens. And the aliens send you a message through your ancestor's memmories because they know that you will eventually use the animus to look at them. Oh, and the warning is that the world is going to end. Apparantly, they have no idea HOW, they just know it will. I mean, come on! They were able to send you a message from the past to the future because they know exactly what you're going to do before you do it, and they don't know what's going to destroy the world?!

Borderlands for me. I got like 50 hours of mild enjoyment out of that game, then I hit the ending. The ending was so bad it rendered those 50 hours completely meaningless. If I could time travel I would smack my past self upside the head for even thinking of buying it. Alas, I can't time travel, so all I can do is fantasize about breaking the game disc into tiny little shards and force feeding said shards to whoever is responsible for the ending.

If I was being completely honest, I would have to say the ending of Half-Life 2: Episode 2.
A Fucking Combine Advisor busts through a window, and takes out one of the coolest old people in the history, while the game just forces you to watch. The part immediately after that didn't help either.

My first reaction was to yell. "Hey, get back here and let me destroy you with a fucking scientific crowbar, you prick!" My second reaction was to curse the game, especially considering the shit-storm I had to survive to make it to that point.

Jesus, people. Spoiler tags please!

OT:

Gonna go with Fable 2, Red Dead Redemption and Borderlands, all of which felt like massive kicks in the balls and anti-rewards for your perseverance and effort.

Fable 2. Forget the terrible "final fight", absolutely nothing was resolved, but all mysteriously left to be solved by what was most likely going to be DLC. And I must say, they did such a great job at releasing DLC that answered any questions before moving on to 3.

Fable 2. One of the worst endings of all time. Though the rest of the game didn't really keep me wanting more.
