2008 has not been a good year.
I've got to agree with these:
- Katy Perry: I kissed a girl
- Nickleback: Rockstar
- Scouting for girls: all their songs are the same and created in seconds
- Solja boy generally
- Basshunters
- Rihanna I would've killed at one point
- Ting tings: just say what you're name is already...

Even bands that have been fairly good in the past have failed this year. Weak offerings from Razorlight, Oasis and the killers ('are we human or are we dancer' - WTF). I feel old.

EDIT: forgot to slag off HSM and Eric Sparrow

Being the hyper critic of music that I am, and thinking that music died in 1995, my opinion is that everything sucks after 1995,
That doesn't make you are a hyper critic. It just means you probably peaked at that age in 1995 and have too good of a taste to buy into most of the post grunge bullshit that most of your peers are into.

The 1# worst song of this year in my opinion is: "I Kissed a Girl" AND I SHOT HER!!!

The rest:
"Womanizer". Yeah, I'll be humming that tomorrow, nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuhnuh...

Anything Nicklback (however the fuck you spell it) have done (ESPECIALLY Rockstar).

Anything Linken Park have done.

Any recent R & B or rap "songs".

So basically anything on the radio, apart from The Killers, Razorlight, Pendulum... um, that's all.

Oh and you know what makes it worse? EVERYBODY, at college plays these on their mobile phones, so there's no escape apart from my MP3 player or my own insanity.

I really don't see how the music industry could get any worse...

You're wrong about that one, it should only be counted as the worst song if the leader singer actually sings. That's not singing, it's talking to a backtrack. :p

Mind you, I don't recall many "songs" this year containing much singing... :|

That... damn... rap music.

Not even joking... I heard a rap song on the radio that sampled... Numa Numa... Yes that's right, someone was rapping with the fucking Numa Numa song in the background. That's how poor the quality of rap music is these days.

Hell, I like good rap, like Project Jenny/Project Jan, but I'm more of a metal guy.

i'm gonna say all of them. music these days sucks. rap is redundant, rock has turned into coffee house pop, does no one know how to come up with a good riff anymore come on!?!
/facepalm.
Turn off the radio, stop expecting a diamond from a shit dispenser, etc
Here's a good riff. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxOh2-g80vk]
Of numerous other examples I could've used, I'm just partial to Black Mountain's style.

There's no shortage of good music, good music simply isn't marketable because the majority of people are twits. So, actual fans of music need to look for it, because everything you hear on the radio is not suppose to be entertaining to you; it's suppose to be entertaining for "John Everyman" and "Sally Neverthinks."

With that said, I decided to strap myself down and watch VH1's top 20 countdown today, in order for me to validate my own elitistness. Well... yeah. It's no wonder we have people spouting off about how music is dead. I think the worst of it all might have been that Britney Spears song, Womanizer? God, she can die in a fire now, safe to say.

Rap- Retards Attempting Poetry. All its about is money clothes hoes and getting high. That shit sucks and I dont understand it. Especially that fuckin "Its goin down" song. Oh and Lil Wayne. He is the biggest waste of sperm ever. Not only is Rap music horrible but the videos are even worse. Who gives a fuck about how nice your car is or how much jewelry or money you have. There a people all over the country that are starving and live in the streets. And that shit is just a big cock slap to the face saying "Yeah I have a shit ton of money for releasing shit music and there aint a fuckin thing you can do about it."

The Jonas Brothers-Bunch of little nancy boys if you ask me.

That goddamned I Kissed a Girl song and the Umbrella song.

Everything that the band AIDEN has made. If you dont know who they are then watch...I'm sorry by the way that you have to see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiKliazfros

In my personal opinion I think the only good band thats closest to rock right now is Avenged Sevenfold. But thats just me. If you dont know who they are then listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwJKOi5QtwM

The Jonas Brothers without a doubt. I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned them, by which I mean why hasn't every person on this forum mentioned them?
