The worst thing a game developer's ever done to you?

Every one of us has probably had a point where we've cursed the very name of a game developer for doing something so evil, so insidious, and so life-ruining that you'd swear they did it just to spite you.

I'm not talking about dick moves done in the games themselves. Bugs and DRM and whatnot are evil, but you'd never think it was directed at you and only you, YES YOU ADRIAN. I'm talking about things guaranteed to cause discord in your work, relationships, family life, or something like that. It could be the game released during finals week, the MMO expansion released just as you've got a big project due, or in my case...

Sega releasing Empire: Total War on my wedding anniversary. March 3 is my fourth anniversary with my wife and it's also the day that the game I've been anxiously awaiting and talking about with my Total War-playing friends and otherwise going crazy over comes out. My wife, normally very tolerant of my gaming habit (she plays World of Warcraft so she knows what it's like), said "If you buy that game and ignore me on release day I'm moving back in with my mother." Curse you, Sega! Curse you, Creative Assembly! I'll have to wait until the day AFTER the game comes out in order to buy and play it!

In all seriousness, Blizzard splitting Starcraft 2 up into 3 games, I can't afford that.

It's going to get released over the span of 1/2 years hopefully, so you won't really have to purchase all of them at once. Now that, would have been cruel.

The game is too. It's not Battlefront and people need to get that through their heads. If you want Battlefront, play Battlefront. If you want a more complex version of Dynasty Warriors with a spawning system, play Conquest.

Ubisoft made the most gorgeous-looking, huge, open-world game on the 360 and gave me a map that I had to toggle with the Back button, rather than, say, "quasimodally" raise into view by squeezing the Left Trigger. Why go to all the trouble of having a myriad of transitional animations to reinforce player-immersion and then have you futz about with a map that you can't open or close without taking your thumb off of the Move stick.... Stop. Go. Stop. Go. Ugh.

This alone practically ruined the best game of 2008: Far Cry 2.

THQ's SR2 computer port. I know I've at least posted something about SR2 fifty times but I spent 40 bucks on a game that met my system requirement but the game was still basically unplayable. Which makes me sad, in the past THQ usually does some good stuff.
