Theories about the G-man

His appearance seems to be inspired by Klaatu(War of the Worlds) as do many elements in Half-life (particularly half-life 2)

So it seems entirely possible that G-man is some kind of interdimensional diplomat, after all you do see him talking to alot of people and the Vorts seem to know him. The real question is who's side is he on?

I've only played the first Half-Life so bear in mind that I will miss stuff from Half-Life 2 and the episodes.
I think the G-Man is an Alien Shapeshifter who has strong psychic abilities (strong enough to control/read minds and stop bullets), teleportation and the ability to see into the future.
I also believe him/it to be under orders from his "employers" (Who we have not seen yet) to handle the Alien invasion on Earth so that a path can be cleared for the "employers" to take control of the planet.
