Sorry. I played 4 first, and found it much less compelling than 6.

I'd say no, first was tactics advance, but I thought tactics was better although too hard. Alternatively Golden Sun was my first RPG and its way better than any Final Fantasy so theres that.

First game I played was Final Fantasy VIII and I found it amazing. Then someone told me to play VII because it was better and I was severely underwhelmed by it. My favourite two out of the series are VIII and IX.

First one I played was... X-2... Even I knew that was an abomination of the series. Took me a few extra years after that, but I managed to get into the series after playing final fantasy X...

Still, it's not specific to final fantasy, it's just nostalgia.
Agreed on both accounts. Final Fantasy X-2 sucks ass indeed. And yes, it´s definitly not specific to Final Fantasy. In a way, I just wanted to know how much did nostalgia enter the equation when it comes to personal tastes on videogames :)

Ooo. My first was FFX, and I do have great affection for it. (It has Auron, one of my favourite characters of all time.) But I do really like FFXII, and it improves on X in so many ways.

Plus FFXII has Balthier. FFX has Tidus to endure, and *that* laughing scene... FFXII it is.

I played 3 first if I'm not mistaken (Which I suppose was actually 6) and I enjoyed it fine. Were I to name a favorite in the full series, it would probably be the one. Of course, that's hardly fair since I didn't play another entry until 13, which I felt was an attempt to harm me and everything I hold dear.

In the entire franchise, the game I enjoyed the most, by far, was Tactics for the GBA. While the story was silly and forgettable,I actually really enjoyed the act of playing - something I can't really say about 3 or 13.

Bull.

First one was FFX, I like FFXIII more.

And I know you're all gonna hate me for saying that.

I agree only insofar as there's a tendency for people to stack all successive experiences to their first. As such, a good chunk of the population will compare their experiences to their first anime, first game of (X) genre, and first concert. And so on, and so on.

I played FFX first. It's my favourite (and for good reason, it's awesome!). I played FFXII next and it's ... the battle style makes it so I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it, but when I'm in the mood I love it (though never as much as X).

No. Played FF XIII first, hated it.

Played VII next it was okay, but I later learned it took quite a lot from VI as I played that one.

So far, my favourite is either IX or X. Yeah, I know, I'm a bit strange like that.

The first one I tried was FF9, and guess what? Yeah, it's my favourite. It might have been because it had Black Mages in 3D, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if your theory turned out to be true. I mean, considering that you have to work 3x as hard as you'd have to in a regular-sized game for 1/2 the result, and that spell names, weapon names and monsters are recycled from the second game onwards, then why would you have room in your heart for more than one?

First I played was.....IV. Good, not grand, seemed much more epic when I was younger, that's for sure. Still a solid game. Love the dwarves.

Favorite is VI. Seriously, that's just a masterpiece. Not the one I've pumped the most time into, though, despite my fondness for it.

Most-played is most likely VII. I maxed the clock out in two different playthroughs of that one. I just had to get/beat/see everything....and start the whole damn process over when another game formatted my memory card >.<

Make of that what you will, I guess?

Not true for me. My first was VII but my favourite is IX. I don't think I'm the only person who feels IX is totally underrated.

I can agree with this. The first one I played was IX and it's by far my favorite, even though there are several I haven't played.
