Obviously most of you only care about the good games, but they idiots of America are all pooping their pants for Gears of War and CoD.
half the games you listed aren't coming out till next year, but yea, "they" Americans are the idiots.

OT: People will buy the games we want to buy, plain and simple, and of the games you listed Halo: Reach and Fallout: New Vegas are the only buy-at-launch titles for me, but I will eventually get Fable 3, and I'll be getting Brink when it comes out next year.

I'm failing to see any amazing games in that list.
Yeah I will not be purchasing any of those games. Also I don't buy new games though because $65 for one game sucks compared to the $40 I just spent at my local game store on let's see...8 games.
What were those 8 games??? likely not the games that are similar in production time and value. and if they were you bought them 2-3 years after release.

I'm already anxiously sitting on the edge of my seat for the next 24 days for Halo: Reach. Beyond that, I'll probably pick up Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and I'll give New Vegas a look. But I'm tight on cash and I'll have my hands full of content once I get my hands on Halo.

Actually I'm sort of hoping the Christmas rush causes a video game industry crash though it probably won't.

The way business is supposed to work is that companies directly compete with each other to produce the best possible product for the lowest possible price to earn customer sales. The competition for video games is generally minimal, with the companies engaging in price setting and adjusting release schedules to avoid going head to head with each other to keep their prices high. "Cartel Behavior" of exactly the same sort that gas companies are constantly in trouble for at least in the US, just from an industry the goverment has not decided is worth their attention on this level yet. I talk about it with some frequency... but seriously, think about how they operate and then look at what has happened with other groups who have tried the same stuff.

At any rate we're seeing a glut of "AAA" titles all being released in time for a Christmas rush where nobody wants to lower their prices, and all the producers apparently don't want to wait for their money and are hedging their bets on a lucrative Christmas season.... though right now we're still in the middle of a recession despite constant reports of things improving, and I sort of expect that this Christmas season is going to be one of the weakest ever, at least from how things look now.

Truthfully any of those titles could make a profit lowering it's price by $10 or $20 for a new release, and also massively undercut the other guys, but nobody is going to do it.

As a result I'm hoping we do see a situation where one or two titles sell and the rest of them basically crash and burn below expectations and drag a lot of the industry down for a while.

It's probably wishful thinking, but I want to see this because despite the short term repercussions of a big "video game crash" I think it will adjust the attitudes of the industry into lowering their prices, competing more, and so on. Despite all the whining there is always going to be an audience for video games, and with that audience there will always be someone producing them. Even if we see a lot of the current guys go out of business, someone else will step up, and hopefully go at it with a more customer-friendly business model.

As I said a couple of times, I doubt it will happen, but I noticed this release schedule too, and given the attitudes of the industry I hope a lot of these games wind up choking.

#1. So you're all calling those games "Amazing" when they all could fall flat on their face at any time?

#2. Like many people have said, some of those games aren't actually coming out until 2011.

#3. It's a tiny bit early to be talking about this, don't you think?

Nope...not interested. I'll be waiting for Deus Ex Human Revolution, Portal 2 and Diablo 3.

-most likely going to be a dissapointment, but kudos for it being the only non-fucking-FPS coming out in the next 362 millenia...

-TPS
First of all, being a shooter does not lower the quality. Secondly, Dead Space is an action-horror, and Fallout New Vegas--if it's anything like FO3--is an RPG with guns. Finally, franchises are not automatically bad, and new IPs aren't as uncommon as you believe. In the next few months, we've got Vanquish and Epic Mickey. Next year, we've got Bulletstorm and Brink. And there are tons of new IPs that I've never heard of without even getting into the indie market.

Had one of these games come out significantly earlier than the rest it might have sold quite well. Like when the original Iron Man film came out just before the summer blockbusters.

Why would this be a bad idea?

Most of them are of very different genres. Sci-fi FPS, Modern FPS, Brink is some kind of new cool FPS I have no idea about, Fable is a third-person fantasy RPG, Fallout 3 is a First person Post-apocalyptic RPG, Dead Space is a semi-horror third person shooter, Gears of War 3 is a gritty and violent third person shooter.

Different games that will cater to different people. I doubt sales will be overly affected
Actually this was a big problem when Prince Of Persia and Beyond Good and Evil came out. An over-saturated market means some gems will get lost in the shuffle.

So I'm asking, wtf?
Well, you got the release on a few of these wrong, some of them are from 2011, but I know what you mean. Game publishers often pull their punches for the Christmas season, with all of them simultaneously saturating the market at that time. On one hand people buy the most games at Christmas, so it makes sense. On the other hand, people are very very poor and so they don't often buy more than one these days. This is one of the things that hurt the 2008 line-up, when Gears of War 2 trumped out Mirror's Edge and Dead Space. It'll happen again and again, mark my words, and every bloody time publishers will be ASTONISHED that their games didn't sell as well as they should have based on what their marketing analysts told them.

Frankly if they had brain one in their big fat marketing heads, they'd try harder to release their big titles at the beginning of summer. You know, when students are getting vacation and itching for something to do? Nothing's more disappointing to a student gamer than hearing about an exciting, big release in May only for it to end up pushed back to FUCKING OCTOBER when they're in the middle of school, leaving a great big void in the summer release schedule.

Only CoD and Fallout NV could be amazing, and I'm dubious about CoD.
Fable could be fun and GoW is a consistently ok shooter.
I'm not sure who you are to think all these will be amazing.

Damn, this shows how up to date I am:
-Halo Reach-Thought it was coming out in 2011
-CoD Black Ops-Thought it was coming out in 2011
-Brink-Never heard of it
-Fable 3-Don't care
-Fallout New Vegas-Thought it was coming out in 2011
-Dead Space 2-Don't Care
-Gears of War 3-Thought it was coming out in 2011

So I guess either their marketing sucks or I'm oblivious.

Gears of War is a great series. I can get if you don't like it but the game is popular for a reason. COD went downhill since 4, and halo since 2. I have to say that Gears of War 3 will be great because of how over the top the series is and how original it is (shooting dinosaurs with orbital lazers bithc!!)
