I don't understand why the people who pay for this can't just play the games normally until they bump into a girl? I have a few girls in my friends list and they all added me whilst just playing normally and messing about like all my other online gaming friends.

Actually, there are only two reasons a girl would even consider working for this company.
1 - They're strapped for cash and need the money in order to survive. This is fair enough. They'd just better be prepared to deal with a lot of immature shit from their clients.
2 - They are vapid, shallow whores who relish the fact that there are, unfortunately, still gamers out there who are horny and stupid enough to get aroused whenever they hear a girl utter so much as a word via Xbox Live, Ventrilo or any other voice service. They love the feeling they get when they're idolized by these socially awkward morons (not that there's anything wrong with being socially awkward - I know I am). They love the attention they get from these love-starved idiots. They actually believe that it is good to distinguish girl gamers from, well, guy gamers.
Don't be surprised to find them taking advantage of their gender when playing games - I know I've seen articles of girls doing this in games like WoW and Modern Warfare 2. Not to mention the fact that there are guys out there pretending to be girls in order to take advantage of randy ass juveniles.
We're supposed to be gamers as a whole. Who in their right mind would care if the person you were playing co-op with was a girl or not?
I may be over-thinking this, but this is only a step back (so to speak) in terms of sexism, not a step forward.
