Wait a second. Follow my reasoning here.
Martin Septim was technically descended from a Dovahkiin (Tiber Septim). Therefore, the Dragonborn are the rightful rulers of the Empire. So maybe the DLC will include the Imperial City. Hell, maybe you get to become Emperor. Lead a coup or something.
I don't know about you guys, but I'd love to see what Cyrodiil looks like.

Heh, guess someone didn't play the Assassin guild's story...

BAD BOY, SPOILERS ARE BAD, VERY BAD!
Yeah, you caught me. I'm only like level 16 right now. Barely scratched the surface of the game.

No. THIS. IS. SKYRIM!!!

OT: How could such a massive DLC be possible? It took them this long to create the world of Skyrim; do we really expect the developers to do the same thing for a landmass that's potentially twice as big?

The more I find about this game, the more I want it to have multiplayer so bad my teeth hurt.
[HEADING=1]NO! BAD GAMER![/HEADING] Seriously, not to be an unreasonable fanboy afraid of change, but Elder Scrolls is not a multiplayer series. If you want multiplayer go to Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 2, or every other game that thinks they need to shoehorn it in to be appealing. Seriously, can a developer not make a strickly single player game anymore?
I'm not asking for any specific kind of multiplayer. No changes other than, "I really, really wish I could roam this open, awesome world with my friends. I wish that I could trade stuff I Enchant for stuff that they Smith, or that I could be in the mix with my axe and shield while they drop magic from behind me..."

Basically, a "sandbox multiplayer" option would be amazing. Let you reset the story quests, and go through it with a friend instead of a "companion." No change in the game, just... it's such an awesome world, I wish I could share it with friends.

Now certain aspects of co-op I think would be cool - or a system similar to Dark/Demon Souls. Perhaps you are referring to this. But if you're inquiring an MMO type of system, I will let go of my initial reaction to ridicule you and ATTEMPT to hear you out even though I think it's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard of.
Don't do me any favors.

But I'm not talking about turning Skyrim into an MMO. I'm talking about maybe someday setting an MMO in this world, because it's so engaging. But right now? I'm just talking about how I would love to run around the world of Skyrim with a couple of my actual friends instead of AI "companions."

Not asking to change anyone's game. Just wish there was a way for me to be in the world, look across the way, and see my buddies there, too. And then go beat up a dragon.

How would multiplayer work? Just have a persistent world where everyone is just kind of running around doing their own thing? 'Cause that would do horrible things for immersion.

Every dungeon in the entire world has been sacked. PvP runs rampant. Every city would lie in ruins.

would not,

... why?

Most TES fans, myself included, are MILITANTLY against it. So much so there have been legitimate threats of developer-cide (the organized, malicious killing of developers) should they add it.

And to be frank, I don't see a use for it. I REALLY don't. Why does everything need a multiplayer aspect to it? What does TES gain from having annoying people ruining the immersion I have in this world?

Now certain aspects of co-op I think would be cool - or a system similar to Dark/Demon Souls. Perhaps you are referring to this. *sigh* why does multiplayer have to be synonymous with online multiplayer these days? While I agree that leagues of min-maxers, griefers, and the inevitable inclusion of PvP "balance" would ruin the experience, LAN-based co-op a la Baldur's Gate could enhance the fun considerably.
The additional player(s) wouldn't even necessarily have to make a new character. Imagine someone taking control of your NPC sidekick, eliminating their suicidal tendencies and making them useful for more than just a pack mule.

oh right, on topic: I'm guessing the presence of Cyrodiil and Morrowind are just for modders... makes you wonder about High Rock, though. Is Daggerfall in there?

These is the reasons everyone gives for not wanting any multiplayer: "It would ruin it" and "TES has never done that". I never see why people think the game would be ruined, and fearing change is never good justification for a point.

Mostly it seems like those against multiplayer seem to have this idea that "multiplayer" can only mean a group of 16 - 32 random strangers running around the world. Nobody wants that. Nobody wants a Skyrim MMO. Co-op is the multiplayer people want. It doesn't break your immersion because you in no way are obligated to take part, and the game wouldn't be ruined because the inclusion of co-op doesn't automatically mean Bethesda would arbitrarily change any of the world or mechanics.

The arguments against multiplayer are constantly followed by "If you want multiplayer, go play something else," which is obviously ridiculous. I want multiplayer in Skyrim, not "something else". You're clearly aware that TES is unique, so why assume that people who want multiplayer can't see the difference between Skyrim and any other game with multiplayer?

So I'm honestly curious how people think multiplayer would ruin the TES series.

However...it might work if only people you allowed to join you could. If anyone is allowed to join...

Every dungeon in the entire world has been sacked. PvP runs rampant. Every city would lie in ruins.
The most important thing to keep in mind is 'If given the opportunity, many people will choose to be an asshole.' I can see all of the stealth archers lurking around dungeons, just waiting for someone unsuspecting to approach...
And that's what I mean. For some reason, everyone assumes "MMO" when they hear "multiplayer." Or they mean "shoehorned game mode."

I just mean the option to invite some friends and roam the countryside in the same world. I do the enchanting, Eric does the smithing, David throws magic, Christy swings the two-handed axe... Would the content be super easy? Sure. Who cares? It's too awesome a world not to share with friends, I feel.

Seriously, picture the whole game without NPCs. Empty, dead, boring. Well... what's awful about replacing some of the NPC "companions" with your own friends and just kicking around? No harm to anyone.

Skyrim doesn't have mod tools yet? I guess they gotta sell some horse armor before people make better stuff for free in half the time.

Just how feasible is it to combine Morrowind, Cyrodil and Skyrim into one playable game? Screw it, why not the whole of Tamriel?
Depends on how difficult it is to port the landscape from oblivion and morrowind into this, and how much they want to up the polycount and texture res. I would love to see cyrodil now, how much it has changed.

And so the modder´s quest beggin.

And when the expansions come along, a modded game will have gigantic file fucks, but that´s okay, it´s still Skyrim.

They did say they wanted their DLC to be huge. I'd have never thought they'd make it that huge, though.
Well, the plot kinda sets it up for a huge conflict with the Thalmor/Aldmerri Dominion. Let's hope.

I would love to play this game co-op, not as a MMO. Sadly it's only single-player.

Elder Scrolls VII comes after VI and includes all the landmasses of Tamriel like Skyrim, Morrowind, Cyrodil, the place the the Argonians come from. There's only one catch. No fast travel.
