How the hell have the Jonas Brothers escaped 4 pages of this thread? They are one point on my personal Axis of Evil, along with Miley Cyrus and Justin Beiber.

The Bush Administration, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Sarah Palin, the recession, the teabaggers, the hysteria about homosexuals, Guantanamo Bay, the Patriot Act, No Child Left Behind, the BP Oil spill, and Intelligent Design.

You seem to be a royal liberal. You despise everything a conservative has done in the last ten years. While some of it was indeed bad, you forget that many of these things were also approved by liberals when they occurred. You also don't mention the Obama Administration's failure to create any kind of permanent jobs. The economy under Obama is worse than it was under Bush. How much of it was due to policy and how much due to other economic circumstances remains to be seen, but it is worth noting that despite inheriting a bad situation, Obama is not either not trying to fix things, or just sucks at doing it.

1. Nickelback, I just can't stand them.
2. Bills that were passed that compromised our rights.
3. George W. Bush. Don't need to explain this.
4: Sarah Palin for being even being considered as a politician.
5: Linkin Park, they were too damn famous 2001-2003. I remember hearing Numb and Crawling all the time.
6. Cheesy and ghetto movie effects like shake cam and such being over used. Oh and every special effect from the Matrix being over used to death.
7. Coldplay. An okay band that just got too popular.
8. Disney's Programming. Lizzie MacGuire, That's so Raven, Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana. What happened to quality stuff like Duck Tales, Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin, and damnit i'll say it again DUCK TALES oh and Darkwing Duck.
9, Character art work in most cartoons being very cheap and ineptly looking. Ren and Stimpy and Doug weren't master pieces in character design but you look at cartoons from the 80's and 90's like G.I. Joe, Thunder Cats, Transformers, hell even the Dragonball series and original TMNT, Spiderman and X-Men. Watching cartoons nowadays feels like they cut too many corners in the quality of character design.
10. John Kerry.
11. HYBRIDS! I can't stand them, so ugly.
12. The over use of cellphones and social networks like myspace, facebook and twitter. Kids these days cant cope with feeling of not being able to talk to a friend for longer than 30 seconds and letting the world know they scratched their ass while reading the new Twilight book.

Honestly, music doesn't suck, you're just purposely listening to stuff you hate so you get a right to complain I guess. Use pandora or last.fm and you'll find that there's plenty of good music, you just don't feel like looking for it.

And yeah, 2000s kind of sucked. You know what though? Every decade kind of sucks. People just like complaining.

What are some things you really hate about everything from 2000 to now? Popular culture? Artists? Movies? Famous icons/historical events?

Everything you just mentioned there, mostly media based. A lot of people think of me as a snob but most of the entertainment in the late 2000s and from what seems like from now on is just generic, weak and even pointless in terms of quality. I liked the early 2000s but after 2005 I had never slept during movies in the cinema (I was forced), returned CD's because of how stale the music is and just stop watching TV in general. Mainstream used to be really good, so basically I hate the down spiral of quality in media entertainment.

Mainstream media doesn't need quality control to make lots of money.

I'm very aware, everyone is, it's so obvious it ridiculous.

Might find it hard to believe but I like everything, I go from The Temptations to Metallica to Beethoven. And even 2000s music I go from Eminem to Deathspell Omega to Daft Punk (these bands aren't powerful), even jazz I like, I would be very surprised if you mentioned a band with better riffs than Deathspell Omega.

So yeah, I like good riffs in other words. Also didn't mean to have a go at you, just wanted to see if you can recommend anything new and interesting. I appreciate it, even if I'm not interested.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that I hate narcissism. Nowadays, EVERYONE thinks that the most important person in the world is themselves, and they're not afraid to let everyone else in the world know it. You can actually lump most of what's already been stated here into narcissism-people just want to become famous so everyone can bow down to them or whatever, I don't know. Reality TV is people imagining that they're deeper than a puddle and that people are actually interested in their lives. Pop music is people thinking they're talented despite having to hide behind a brick wall made of Autotune, Photoshopped looks, a lack of creativity and complete safety in their music, and advertisement to become popular, and once they do, they're a flash in the pan because they've done nothing to stand out from the crowd. Rap music is people thinking they're amazing and that that self-obsession would make for very interesting lyrics, and that said lyrics are enough to make good music and any backing instruments should be limited to bad drum machines with subwoofers the size of Bill Gates's house. People consume all this crap entertainment because the media tells them to, and disobeying their corporate masters makes them look bad. Individuality nowadays is frowned upon in favor of a completely unhealthy gold standard to live up to.

TL;DR Narcissism is causing people to become soulless, mindless assholes who'll do anything to fulfill their need to look good to others, completely ignoring their ambitions and individuality for absolutely nothing healthy, and therefore becoming shallow and characterless.

I hate things beginning with 'i'. Would have been fine if they'd stopped at the iPod, but now iMarketing seems to iThink that anything beginning with a little i is iNew and iInnovative.

Also, beginning with i but unrelated, the word 'Islamist'. You can be Islamic, or you can be Muslim, but since when was Islamist a word? It seems to me the media created the word to fit right alongside other popularly despised "-ists", such as terrorists and communists.

Otherwise, the decade has been rather mediocre, but things like reality tv and twilight incur more contempt than wrath.
