USA...

Some people with frighteningly archaic ideas on various things, I swear there are those who would bring back racial segregation, if not slavery.

Bullshit short sentences for white-collar crooks, you defraud whole families of their hard-earned savings and get 3ish years in prison? Fuck no, if it were me you'd be in for life.

The old "celebrities and athletes get paid huge amounts for one stupid movie" there should not only be salary caps, there should be way higher taxes for people of that income. And bullshit I say to the unwritten "get off on connections" clause of our tax law, you make a lot, you pay a lot.

Geert Wilders, "volksmuziek" (not comparable with folk music), football mania, nationalism, chauvinism, royalty, the government, the parliament, the landscape..... Yes, I plan on emigrating at some point. (Not permanently, though. The Dutch health care system is much better than the Russian one. Also, I prefer getting paid in hard currency.)

Fuck you America, i'm moving to Scotland.
Why Scotland?

Anyway I'm from England. Simply put there's nothing in this country to hold our heads high about. But I guess we could feel proud of our NHS if our government wasn't so hellbent on spending our taxes on the royal family and war instead.

Personally, I'm Australian, so the obvious choice is this.
Counter-act if with this.

I'm American and i have no problem with an African-American or any other ethnicity as president, but it is sad that even though millions of citizens are complaining to the government about the recession, the government refuses to listen and only try harder to pass their laws to empty our pcokets.
Im sure that you have studied the government's stimulus package very carefully and are an economist. If not, shut up.
Ther very idea of spending a TON of money (billions of dollars) on defecit to reduce debt is a little absurd don't you think?

When money flows, an economy can grow - a stagnant market brings the whole system to a grinding halt. Rather than dumping billions into a package that may very well fall flat on its face, it would be far better to find way of encouraging the consumer, the common man, to spend their money. When the consumers are comfortable with the thought of spending their money, the system can begin to work again.

EDIT: Hence raising the GDP, and the buying power of the consumer. Private consumption is a big part of the equation.
Why is it stupid? The economy needs money sloshing around in it, money flowing, like you said. The government is flooding (parts of) it with monies. Thats what you said would stop it stagnating, so whats the problem?
Ok, back from my vacation...

The problem is that simply flooding the market with money causes inflation, thus devaluing the currency in question. Adding money only makes the problem larger while promoting the movement of money can solve the problem. More money in circulation equals less valuable money because there is more of it to be had.

I know exactly nothing about economics but I beleive devaluing a currency can be a good thing...?

Ok seriously, just some of the ignorance, the scary statistics about illiteracy in the south etc etc.
I seriously think those statistics are off, we're not all stupid. But yeah the ignorance is just getting out of hand.

That we were the worlds best superpower for nearly 200 years.
And then this ended when we managed to hold out againt an evil Nazi empire.
we just held on and survived thanks to the brave armed forces, but then we misplaced the "worlds best country" mug and America found it

The UK isn't a country mate.

I understand you know that - but each country in the UK has a rich background worthy of it's own saying.

Yeah, but your scottish, and therefore a nationalist.
The English, most welsh and the northern irish are all unionists which means they want to combine their rich history, to stop wars that ravaged them for so long while improving their economy, world standing and military stregnth.
Therefore making them one country. The United Kingdom.
Like the United States.

My mother is full English - I think you need to rely less on assumptions.

We are one power, one kingdom, not one country.

The thinly-veiled sexism and happy-go-lucky attitude even though the political corruption and social violence, from the underpaid police officers all the way "up" to the senators and ministers are at an all-time high.

And the low brow humor and programming the few dominating public media outlets feed the poorly educated masses. Don't take that as upper class distanced view of the poorer classes though, because I was born and raised in the most violent area of the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro.

That's in Brazil, by the way. And I do love my country and my city, which by the way is having an extremely beautiful sunny day at the time of this posting.
