Healthcare. I loooooove the healthcare. (They've taken very good care of me.)

Also it's green, it's beautiful and there's a huge variety of scenery.

Canada.

Bill Bailey perfectly summed up everything about britain that makes me proud:"As a nation we are infused with a wistful melancholy, and are prone to mild eccentricity, binge drinking and casual violence."
Hooray! we're rubbish!
Still the best though. 'cept maybe Japan.

Norway developed a nice cheesecutter, and made a small copperwire hold papers toghether. :p
Also, we are considered to have a good public healthcare, and good public schools.
Also we didn't turn into one of the USAs bootlickers when it was discovered oil in our seas.
AND Norway brought us death metal.

I like where I live, but it is the most hated of countries. Food from every culture is great, as well as I get to dress how I want(which most every country can). But not a ton of things that make me proud I guess.
U.S.A. has given me a nice dream of living in NYC one day.

Russia: USED to be be feared and respected as one of the two world superpowers, also, great culture/food and some of the best damn military equipment around. also, beautiful country.

Venezuela: Gorgeous landscape that never ceases to amaze. Happiest, kindest people (in the record books, seriously) Best tasting food ever, free spirited society.

I could mention some pretty awesome stuff thats been invented, refined, discovered et cetera by the US, intellectual stuff is usually what matters to me most but i'd have to say...

Foreign policy in regards to countrys that get taken over by baddies, I know most of you will say this is what makes US foreign policy suck but...

It strikes me as 100% pure badassery that our policy for whoever {germany, russia, etc.} is pretty much just to kick down the door and ***** slap whoever the dictator is.

Let's see. I just love the food here in Germany, both the common stuff and the extremely varied local cuisine of the individual states.
Also, we have arguably the best beer in the whole damn world! ... Well, maybe not exactly, but it's a close second to the beer from the Czech Republic. ^^
The Healthcare system is something I'm proud of, too, I guess, even though it seems it's currently run by the ministry of douchebagness.
And, of course, I am EXTREMELY proud of our fraternities, who actively pursued and fought (and died) for a united Germany and democratic rule.
Yay! Deutschland Uber Alles, we'll rule the world alongside Germany any day :d.

Now, what I love about my country... (warning, patriotic American ahead, hide your children)

The sheer amount of different people of different ethnic backgrounds living here makes for a very interesting melting pot of a culture, plenty of good food to eat, and plenty of varying peoples with whom I've discovered a kinship.

Awesome military, yes I know it gets me bashed as a stereotypical barbarian American but damn, we've got lasers and power armor, screw you uppity folks who don't dig the awesome things we've got.

We made Star Wars, Star Trek, and DnD, three things I love and the reigning overlords of American nerdom.

The fact that we kicked Japan's ass like nobody's business in World War II, even becoming the only nation ever to use atomic weaponry offensively against another country, we essentially made them our ***** for a while so they didn't just spend a bit of time seething in their defeat and launch another attack against us and our various overseas territories; and now they're our steadfast allies. We really wined em and dined em with that one.

That more than once we've taken a country's leader who got uppity with us and replaced him with someone who wasn't, yes its bloody imperialism but still, have to give props that we've done that successfully so many times.

Oooookay... again, there's the difficulty of detecting possible sarcasm in written comments, but I'll be uncharacteristically optimistic for once and actually take it as a compliment towards my country.
Still, the "Deutschland über alles" phase is one I wouldn't like to see repeated. (That was the first line of the national anthem during the Nazi regime, so that one's a no-no, we don't sing it any more :p) Nowadays the anthem starts with "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit" (Unity, law and liberty). ^^

I wasn't being sarcastic about Germany, I love the country and the culture, and the history (I still really want to wear a pickelhaube and I wish I could go back in time and talk politics with Bismarck). But yeah, total facepalm on my part about the national anthem, I saw a little video about it with pics of modern Germany so I figured it'd be the current one... but yeah, that version predates Nazi Germany and even though I know they liked to exploit old stuff from Prussia and the Middle Ages, I happen to like some of the way old stuff (like Der Konnigratzer Marsch) and would be most interested in learning German and visiting the country.

Most awesome German phrase ever "Heute Europa, Morgen Die Welt" *slaps self, no Dancingman stop harassing those poor Germans with world-takeover offers.

A tiny little island with only a few natural resources that dominated the world for centuries, had an empire that the sun never set on.

We invented TV, the internet, the jet engine and radar.

We birthed Shakespeare, Newton, Orwell and Churchill; and sheltered Marx, Freud and Marley (Bob).

We gave the world pop music (The Beatles) and good rock music (The Rolling Stones), we explored the artistic highs of rock (Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd) and smashed it all down (Sex Pistols and the Clash).

We curbed the power of kings (Magna Carta) and resisted the forces of tyranny whilst our allies failed or hid.

And I'll damned if we're ever openly proud of any of it!

Go Britain!
Woah woah woah. Britain did NOT invent the internet. And while I'm tempted to say Al Gore did (Even Sid Meyer agrees), it's in fact true that the American armed forces did (Can't remember which branch...May not have been branch specific). If fact a quick Wikipedia search just now reveals that ARPA (Or DARPA as they became...twice) created DARPANET, a pseudo-internet for Defense purposes only. This evolved into the internet as we know it with no British intervention. And DARPA reports directly to the DoD, in case you were wondering.

And the jet engine had 2 major inventors. One was British, as you say, but the other was German. The Brit patented his first, the German flew his first. So while you can claim Britain invented the jet engine, it was truly co-invented.

The TV is almost the same story, though I'm giving it to the Brits because a Scotsman demonstrated the first working television.

And Radar, while not being discovered by a Brit, was indeed first utilized by the Brits.

But the Internet is American. Never make that claim again. We're proud of our work and do not want it stolen by others.

Anyways, I'm American. I'm proud of our past. We've done a lot (Including fighting tyranny). It's a shame we're all judged by the actions of a few from this day and age, otherwise people wouldn't hate us for no reason...We need an alien invasion, everybody became all buddy buddy at the end of ID4.
