Fellow Escapists, is there anything in games that can actually not feel well?
For me, it's being hunted by a unkillabe enemy. In Dead Space, there is one enemy, aptly named the "Hunter" that can regenerate it's limbs, so it can only be slowed. Made worse by the fact it can travel through vents, like most creatures in Dead Space.

When my character if forced to do something I would never do. I can't really think of any games that do this, but I remember I had to destroy a town that had women and children in it. I thought maybe at the last minute I could say no and change sides, but it becomes a cutscene of my guy hitting a button and the town and another town explode! I remember I gave up on it then.

In AC: Brotherhood when I am being chased in multilayer and knowing I can't kill them (only stun) just scares the crap out of me.

Playing Rule of Rose makes me feel very uncomfortable, and leaves a lasting impression of dread and hopelessness.

Watching people kiss in game. Doesn't matter how well the characters are animated or how good the graphics are... there's just something really creepy about two heads bumping together like that. Perhaps it's the lack of emotion, I dunno.

like your experience with deadspace.

Amnesia... you cannot kill the monster in that game, only hide. Much scarier that way

The "No Russian" level from Modern Warfare 2 made me feel a bit like that. I wasn't shooting anyone, but watching it was a bit eurgh.

On a lighter note, Creepers. You know why.

For me not much, though for some reaon I've been feeling a bit odd whenever I decide to just turn off my glide and drop to the ground a long ways in DCUO, which is wierd since I've done similar things in other games. Dunno what it is about this game and the graphics set, since it isn't even paticularly realistic.

Nothing makes me feel unwell but the things that make me uncomfortable are everything in dead space and now dead space 2 whilest i play through that :O

Those things stuck the wall especially, the noise they make is just nasty. Same with the hunter, that thing was a PITA, hearing it in the vents as you try and make your way through the level...

Explicit, perverted sexual type things. Like in the end of Silent Hill 3 with the fetus, or in Silent Hill 2 when you first meet Pyramid Head. Those scenes still stick in my mind to this day. *shudders*

Being forced to do things that I wouldn't usually do or seem unnecessarily cruel, with the best example probably being in Heavy Rain in that misson where you had to kill a guy as Ethan, when the guy is showing you a picture of his family and begging you not to kill him.
Other than that sort of thing, probably the knowing that there are enemies nearby, when they know where you are without you knowing exactly where they are or when they are going to attack, which kind of makes me go extemely paranoid, jumpy and with that sinking feeling of how you could die at any second.

The library in Metro 2033. Staring those librarians in the eye and hoping they didn't try to kill you.

In the game Condemned: Criminal Origins I had to take a close-up photograph of a "dead" body stuffed in a locker, I immediatly saw what was going to happen, but the game still made me do it :'(

Interactive making out is even worse. It's not that I'm a prude or anything; it's just weird, and really awkward to watch, since the animation is just so...off.

I wasn't bothered by most of the games mentioned here, Dead Space I enjoyed because I've experienced more or less the same in Resident Evils, Dino Crisis and Silent Hills for examples. Kissing I've gotten used to, although cheeziness makes me cringe.

One thing haven't gotten used to is like someone mentioned, abhorrently bad voice acting, notably in Just Cause 2, it was hilariously bad, its like as if they didn't bother putting any effort and just picked random people to do voice overs.

Another thing is a cringe worthy anime-like storyline where the main character acts stupid around pretty girls, I'm not that weak minded, so its in complete contrast to my normal personality.

I don't think "scary" is the word I'd use.

OT: I hate the feeling of being stalked. Snipers and Spies take top priority whenever I play TF2, and I still get the heebies when I think about The End from MGS3. Curiously, it's that same uneasiness that made me like Call of Pripyat so much.

Does cringing because of ludicrously abhorrent voice acting count?

"physically"? i'd have to say falling from great to moderate heights, i can stare down a chasm just fine but falling makes my stomach tighten.
