There are certainly a lot of popular trends in mainstream films that keep resurfacing over and over again. the same jokes, similar scenes, the same cliches etc. But whenever I go into the cinemas these days and sit through the ads I see the exact same thing, stuff blowing up, people getting laid, guns being shot, speeding cars, clashing swords, CGI etc.
these are all things that seem to be commonly shared with all movies these days. But in your eyes what is a common trend that you really hate?
Personally I hate overusage of sequels, especially sequels to movies that did not need sequels.
However as an example of what I want: I hate sudden jumpout scares in horror movies, I think unless done right they are really cheap scares. These things really make me angry, they feel especially out of place in action movies.

But seriously what thing in movies do you hate the most? What cliche? What trend?
My hate is jumpout scares... what's yours?

The stereotype hero that can't be beaten, always gets the girl(s), has no obvious weaknesses and can take on a whole army really makes a movie boring as hell.

What's with the completely over-the-top stunts that have no way of being physically possible in real life, usually involving a helicopter? Good stunts are fine. Badass stunts are cool. But some stunts in movies just take away from my willing suspension of disbelief. And they seem to involve helicopters lately. Like the one in Live Free or Die Hard--already the weakest movie in the series--where McClane smashes a car into a helicopter to blow it up. Or the most recent one in the Wolverine movie, where Wolverine smashes HIMSELF into a helicopter. Slightly justified by his regeneration, but still more than a little far fetched.

hundreds of minions that fire entire clips at the hero with machine guns and other stuf and never hit anything but the walls near the hero. I mean, seriously, if 50 guys are shooting at someone with AK's, ONE of them should at least hit the target?

Absolutely, and this goes for heroes, too.

Jump out scares annoy me, predictable plot, lack of plot, too. But the thing that really gets me is pretentiousness.

It's trendy to hate on the muslims and Arabs.
It's not just trendy.

Google "Reel Bad Arabs".
Yeah, that's pretty sad.
Arabs in Hollywood are the new Jews, if they're not crazed terrorist religious fanatics then they're corrupt hook nosed money loving white woman raping sheiks.

Needless to say the whole thing took a turn for the worse after 9/11.

I dislike it when the good guys (the AMERICANS) are standing there at the end of the movie, all emotionally saluting the U.S flag while some cheesy orchestra plays some kind of "heroic" music in the background. It's so extremely common and cheesy, but I guess it's quite appealing to the american watchers, being all patriotic and all. But I don't like it.

I hate it when the makers fail to make "subtle" hints on how the plot will twist, so that it becomes extremely obvious who's the bad guy/who will die/what will happen before it is revealed.

For example
In Watchmen, it is made extremely obvious that Ozymandias killed the Comedian, from showing his quite skinny silhouette in the opening to his overall behaviour and the whole "Everybody wants to rule the world" music.
There are much more obvious examples, but mostly these are hardly worth remembering

So yes, dear director, it is kinda cool when there are all these hidden hints leading to the ending....but only if you CAN'T SEE THEM ON THE FIRST DAMN VIEWING.

Also, i hate how interesting properties are used to make generic action movies. Max Payne, Hitman and to a degree even Silent Hill would've been much better if the makers would actually understand what makes the themes and style of the games.
