They had one for each boss in Demon's Souls so why not this?
Because it's not an achievement if you just played the freaking game. It should acknowledge something unusual, offbeat, or otherwise special. I can't stand achievements like "beat the first level", "beat the game", or "beat a boss that was just standing there waiting to get killed". It's just patronizing.

I mean yeah, most people suck at these things, but don't assume they do.

All the achievements for Dark Souls were like this, just for completeing necessary sections of the game and ultimately pointless like you say.

But they only gave an achievement for defeating six random bosses most of which weren't even the most difficult in the game.

Hmm? I suppose Gwyndolin and Prisilla were optional bosses and so require some extra effort to track down but there were others like that...

For that matter getting all of the crimson Nirnroot should have given you something too. Maybe not an achievement but more then: "Oh thx for getting me that stuff bro, here is some gold, you don't seem to have enough already." Srsly, did I miss something there? I got all of them, stupid book told me Id get like a mega potion or so, then all I did was deliver it to that farmer in the overworld. Was that really all to it?
They gave you the 'nirnroot missive' which isnt that exciting but the quest also gives you the passive ability 'Sinderion's Serendipity' which gives you a 25% chance of creating a second potion whenever you create one. That is much more worthwhile.

I'd never be able to get that one. I call my computer something at least once every other day.

I can't think of anything at the moment, which only irritates me because I know that I've thought of this kind of thing before but I can't think of anything right now.

In a stealth game, insta-kill an enemy who has just noticed you. Preferably in a game where silencing his cries for help leads to the preservation of your hidden-ness.

Oh, the more you know. Thanks for the info. Guess that's a reason to start alchemy then, right?

Get through Torchlight 2 on New Game + 3 times with the same character.

the reason I think this is because at about level 100 the items stop leveling with you, but the enemies don't.

Achievements suck. There should be a checkbox in the options menu to disable them.
Well with the 360, you can turn achievement notifications off. It doesn't prevent you from earning them though.

OT: Shadow of the Colossus, kill any colossus in an unconventional way. Such as with the secret items like the harpoon or the exploding arrows.

Star Wars: The Old Republic
-Play a female character to level 50 without equipping any of the "Female Clothing" armors.
-Successfully acquire a full set of Black Hole gear on a Free To Play/Preferred Status account without buying Operation Passes
-Play a character from level 1 to 50 without whining about a glitch being a betrayal of customer loyalty
I was playing a female Jedi Guardian on the starting world and I saved up my world commendations for the top commendation armour from the vendor: The highest stats of any other top. The gear tends to get more and more intricate and detailed as you progress, so I put it on and imagine my surprise to see it was basically a hooded bra. Classy.

I'd put up an achievement for playing a free2play character of the old Republic without raging about stuff you can't access but the game throws in your face any way. You won't make it to level 15. Blooming pay-only quest rewards.

I know plenty of people who don't play games through to the end and I always felt beating the game should reward you. Levels and shit shouldn't, but a win screen is even more satisfying when you hear that trademark sound indicating an achievment.

No matter what the sandbox, there should always be an achievement for hurling yourself off the tallest point on the map. We all end up doing it anyway, might as well reward it.

Bought (100-200-500) games on Steam. Once Steam gets achievements for buying stuff we're screwed.
You know, with the badge system they introduced earlier this year (basically achievements for doing things in the steam store and participating in the events), they've got all the infrastructure they need to do that. I can't believe nobody at Valve has done this yet.
