Eating snow... Lot's of people do it but... Well...

Snow is formed from evaporated water...
Water comes from the sea...
Drains flush into the sea...
Drains flush out shit, piss and vomit as well as period blood, evidence and wank tissues....

If you have ever eaten snow or got it on your tongue, face, whatever you have been covered in what is essentially semen, blood, piss and hastily destroyed child pornography...

Just think about that for a minute...
Hate to be the one to brake this to you but ALL water is like this. Unless you burn hydrogen and oxygen to create your own water, that very same water you are drinking/inhaling/absorbing/eating/ etc... was one inside some one/something else

OT

Tom and Jerry cartoons (or any of the old ones tbh). The amount of violence and pain that they inflict on each other is shocking. Not to mention the psychological trauma,

About the time the acknowledge it as such and say "Get me away from that so I don't freak out"?

I find most young kids shows are extremely disturbing when you think about them too much.

Thomas The Tank Engine........really, that's screwed up. Especially the one with a story about an old engine that got turned into a generator and then buried and forgotten in an old tunnel somewhere. Was it still sentient? Did the conversion hurt? Disturbing stuff.

Eggs, as in the ones you eat. In other cultures they will have the foetus to eat as well. No thanks.

I like eggs, and can just about manage to eat when thinking about what they are and where they came from.

I always get somewhat unsettled by the idea of life after death. I mean, what could it be that wouldn't be incredibly boring? If the idea of Heaven and Hell(or something similar) is true(I'm not saying it is, just a what if) then, obviously Hell would suck, but Heaven wouldn't be that exciting, would it? We always get told good things can't be truly appreciated without bad things, and a land with only good things wouldn't exactly be great after a while. And it would be a while, as assumedly Heaven is forever...

What makes it creepier is that (if I remember right), Adam and Eve only had two kids, Cain and Able. Cain killed Able, so according to the Bible, we're all the spawn of a quite literal mother fucking murderer.
Of course, then you have to remember that all those guys and gals grew up to be evil dicks (Makes sense, really), and then God decided "Fuck it, restart" and flooded the place, leaving no-one alive...

Baring Noah and his family. Noah had, if I remember correctly, 4 kids and a wife, and was, at the time of flooding, something like 800 years old.
So we're not all the bastard offspring of a mother fucking murderer, just a family of people, one of whom was still somehow fucking at 800 years old.

... Actually, that's sorta less creepy, and more kind of off-the-wall-banana-nut-butter-crazy.

I know HP Lovecraft is already creepy, but when you really contemplate the fact that Obed Marsh fucked a fish-person and that the father of Wilbur Whately pimped out his daughter to Yog-Sothoth, one of the outer gods, and you wonder what those people went through, never ceases to make me shiver and wanna scrub myself.

Annnd that's why we're really doomed. Because fanaticism, egotism, patriotism, despotism, opportunism, and jism are part of the human psyche. Human nature won't be majikally transformed just because nobody actually did something that stupid yet. We won't become any wiser as a species because we simply don't want to learn from the past. Not only will we continue to have the capability to destroy everything, we are also going to develop new ways to do it. Humans are still messing around with biological weapons. How is that going to change? The very worst thing to do is have a positive outlook about it, like sheep. Hold the bastards accountable.

On Topic:
Who decides what you learn?
When we look at the world, we see everything through the lens of experience. We don't appreciate suffering until we learn what pain is. We don't grasp accomplishment until we have struggled to create. What we see is closer to the truth, if our education and experience is unbiased. But what if it is not unbiased?

Who decides what you learn? In many cases the answer is 'the Government' and 'the Church'. But they're both highly biased in multiple ways. In the U.S., bitter battles are being fought over whether evolution may be taught, and even how old planet Earth can be. A literal interpretation of the Bible only allows that the Earth is 6000 years old, which means that oil and gas deposits are impossible and cannot exist. Unless God put it there for man to pollute the air later on.

The Roman Catholic Church claims (so the Protestants didn't know any better when they split off) that the disciple Peter was the first Pope. Peter did not go to Rome saying, "I need to become the head of a vast and powerful religious institution!" Catholicism did not fully split from the Orthodox Church until the Western Empire fell after 461, and before that, the most powerful Bishop was in Constantinople; where he had the ear of the Emperor.

What else have they lied about?
What else don't they want you to know?
Why don't they want you to know it?

Who decides what you learn?
Chill Andrew Ryan, you aren't in Rapture now, the church and government may not like that thinking.

(Too good a reference to pass up, don't hate me.)

I had this same fear/theory but then the former pastor at my church assuaged me of it. He said that Adam and Eve were the first to be created and that others were created they just aren't mentioned.

OT: take the battles in Pokemon the games(and maybe the anime) and simply substitute the word fainted for died and imagine how much more fucked up it all is now. They're forced fight to the death and then their masters take them to the centers to be healed[footnote]or brought back to life[/footnote] and concerning the game as far the ones you catch go as long as you keep going to the poke-centers they're doomed to die and be revived again and again so long as they're on your team of 6. And then theirs Pokemon evolving into their next forms, that can't be as simple and as painless as it seems to be

Always found it weird that folks can say that >_>. "Oh you know this also happened, just nobody mentions it anywhere in any text." Kinda feels like cheating.

@OP:

The Every Breath You Take Song

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you

O can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches with every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby please

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

That's uh...that's horrifying.

I think the fact that the world is run by only a tiny fraction of the total population and within that group you have Religious Extremists, self-righteous Idealists, War Mongers, distorted historical rivalries and just plain Power Mad Nutjobs, coupled with a weapon stockpile sufficient enough to eradicate life on earth several times over or turn the entire visible landmass of earth into a crater filled dust bowl, is far very unnerving.

Think about it, it's not just us, but billions of years of evolution that would be undone if such an event was to occur. All of it could cease to exist in 1 day. The power for complete planetary extinction really does exist and it's in the control of people who hate each other. It doesn't help that at this moment in time there is a major shift in power towards China and everyone and their mom seems to be worried about it, to the point of paranoia.

It's one thing if the universe in all it's power extinguishes us... but the very real fact that we have that power ourselves is just really unsettling.

Fortunately, if it doesn't happen within the next century, it will never happen. But if it does, I hope I'm already gone. The sheer grief that you would feel knowing that everything ever achieved by our tiny blue planet could be undone by us ungrateful upstarts would be unbearable.
I'm assuming you mostly mean nukes when you say "weapon stockpile". If so then there's no reason to worry, we (as in everyone) don't even have 1/20th of the nukes needed to wipe out all life on earth.

Hands. Seriously, look at your hands for a second. A square-ish bit of meat and bone, with 5 tentacle-like things sticking out from the top that you use to probe things with. How is this not weird to others?

When I was young my parents listened to a lot of The Police and Stings solo stuff. I didn't pay any attention to the lyrics at the time and the tone of his songs were often very upbeat and happy and I'd dance and hum along to them as if they were the Wiggles or something. When I got to be older and listened to his songs again it was a real mindfuck creep moment for me haha.

The melody of his songs are always so nice and happy but his lyrics are always so fucked up.

That diagram doesn't take into account nuclear fallout, both from the nukes themselves, and the destruction of nuclear power plants. It only considers the explosive force.

I was also considering all weapon stockpiles, including biological weapons. I sort of exaggerated the impact for dramatic affect. I doubt we have enough explosives to deface the entire earth. But we certainly have enough to drastically affect global climate, then add radiation to the mix as it spreads across the earth via global weather currents.

There are a few hypothetical outcomes for even a small scale nuclear war that can affect all land based life on earth.

The fact is we don't know what will happen if everybody loses their sanity and decide that hiroshima and nagasaki are something we should experience again.

On a side note, the numbers of nuclear weapons in the world seem to differ depending on the source, I found 1 that says 19,000 and another that said over 20,000. Even taking into account some dishonesty about the numbers, I doubt we would exceed that range.

Anyway, I'm not one to actually think we will see such an event. Even if a nuke is fired in a hostile scenario, I doubt the world is that unstable that they would all run for their red buttons.

Riding in a car occasionally freaks me out. Because if you look at it objectively, you are sitting in box made of plastic, metal, and glass. You are hurtling across the surface of the Earth at various high rates of speed. The Earth is also hurtling through space at ~67,000 mph. Therefore, you are hurtling through space at ~67,100 mph with nothing protecting you but some sheets of metal and a lot of glass.

Since I was like, five, I've been thinking about what happens after you die.

If there is no heaven/afterlife/nirvana/whatever you believe in, what happens to your consciousnesses? Do you just, like, see black forever? Or see nothing? Feel nothing? Like, seriously, what happens?

And if there is, then you spend an eternity there. Forever. Until the end of time. Unless there is no end of time. It never, ever stops. To me, that's scarier. If I'm a good enough person to go to Heaven, I think I'll ask to be reincarnated. You're allowed to get whatever you want there, right?

Also, blind people. They don't see black, they see nothing. Like how you can't see out the back of your head. That freaks me out.
