This may be an unpopular opinion, but Dr. Strangelove. When you watch it now the jokes just seem cliched and unoriginal because of how many movies have tried to imitate it.

Yes, they are cool in my books too, but that doesn't change that they fell well and truely out of contemporary fashion. They are still around here and there, sure, but their popularity died off thus causing them to fail the test.Bretty said:I have two really nice pocket watches?Kermi said:Their day will come again! I would say they did stand the test of time since people are buying them over a hundred years later?
Most of the character changes is what makes the LotR adaptations fail in my eyes. Aragorn is suppose to be a leader of a Kigdom and lead men into war, he basically spent all his life getting ready for moment he crossed the Path of the Dead and lead the Free People into the Gates of Mordor. In the movies he went from Ranger to King in a moment. No evolution at all.Casual Shinji said:I also saw the movie first and then I read the books. The book is a little more confuzing when comes to explaing things and the characters are lot more staight forward. Gollem is evil from the getgo and Aragorn isn't as doubtfull about himself as he is in the movie. I loved the movie and watching the characters was a lot more enjoyable then it was in the books. But I did miss the passage of time from the books and I was really disappionted with the Paths of the Dead scene in the Special Edition.SomeBritishDude said:It may have been incredibly well written, but it was also incredibly boring. It's probably because I've been brought up on action packed fast paced fantasy, or maybe it's because I was Peter Jacksons master pieces first, but I was extremely disappointed by the Lord of the Rings.
I preferred the Hobbit. A talking Dragon or army of wolves may have caused Frodo to be a little less moody and poetic.
Kinda the same as how I experienced Watchmen. Saw the movie first then read the 'comic'. I loved the movie but I missed the looming theat of nuclear war that was conveyed so well in the 'comic'.
If I really love something I tend to nitpick at it.
I used to love the harry potter games when I was a kid too. They're aweful once you look back on them.AndyFromMonday said:Harry Potter 1(The game). I remember liking it so much has a kid. That's the way you should watch all movie adeptations. The book is the book and the movie is the movie. And they're both good in their own way.oliveira8 said:It's still good movies, it's just better to forget the books while watching them.
What? Ocarina Of Time was epic!Souplex said:The N64 Legend of Zelda games. Worst non-CDI Zeldas around.
But I can't! I grew up with the books, and I have most of them memorized....It's...so...hard.Casual Shinji said:That's the way you should watch all movie adeptations. I could've sworn it was the Sorcerer's Stone.SomeBritishDude said:I used to love the harry potter games when I was a kid too. Also, apparently Voldermort gave Harry a scar and a fucking huge head.

I agree. In my opinion Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask both withstood the test of time quite well. I still play either one once in awhile when I get bored of modern games and, I have to say, I still enjoy them immensely.Booze Zombie said:What? Not just because of what it's about or the unbelieveble detail, but also for the way it is written. Tolkien was a beast when it came to describing mood and atmosphere. Especialy with the Paths of the Dead, the fear and anguish just dripped of the page.clicketycrack said:Not what I said, read it again. The Blue Mongoose said:Lord of the Rings IS still awesome!

I totally agree, I hated that failure.Leftnt Sharpe said:Starcraft. Yes I went there.
