Very true, but you know what has also fallen out of style? Snarky, pop culture-referencing CGI movies. And thank Christ for that.

Seeing movies like How To Train Your Dragon and Tangled makes me somewhat hopeful that the era of Shrek-induced shit is finally over (Eventhough Tangled was obviously marketed as such).
You have obviously never watched How to Train Your Dragon. At least WATCH something before you talk shit about it.

Also, tradition =/= better.

worthy rap music
People who think that hip-hop hasn't been good in years are worse than backpackers.

Radiohead, Animal Collective, Between the Buried and Me, Madvillain, Kanye West, Fashawn, Onra, Tame Impala, The Mars Volta, Mastodon, Why?, Vivian Girls, Dinosaur Feathers, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, Shugo Tokumaru, toe, World's End Girlfriend, Justice, Super Furry Animals, Mouse on the Keys, Flying Lotus, The Books, James Blake, Arcade Fire, Emeralds, Jazzanova, Owen Pallett, Nomak, Nenem, Janelle Monáe, Portishead, The Avalanches, Hey Ocean!, Zazen Boys, Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio, Of Montreal, Tokyo Jihen, Teebs, Warpaint, Baths, maudlin of the Well, and about eight billion other acts are producing excellent music today.

In this day and age where the internet is king, if you cannot find good music, it means either you are unsatisfiable or extremely lazy.

Out of all of the things that didn't wane in popularity, why did one of them have to be nostalgia goggles?

Television. Not television programs, just... television broadcasting. It's not that it's unpopular, it's just... not a big deal anymore. TV is mundane now, a fact of life. And has lost its touch.

Big Momma's House 3 is coming out soon, I'm sure they'll come back in an extremely obnoxious way verryy soon...

I think you're misunderstanding what I said, I was actually complimenting both these movies. How To Train Your Dragon is the first sincere movie Dreamworks Animation has made since The Prince of Egypt. And Tangled is like a love child between Pixar and a Disney princess; I freaking adore it.

What I meant to say was that hopefully these two quality films suggest that American animation has finally moved passed the snarky, pop culture-referencing, easy laughs, A-lister voice acted crappy cartoons that we've had to suffer through this past decade.

well its really about knowing what you like

also I think people tend to be a little bit eleitist when it comes to music and are very closed minded to anything "popular" or "rap"
Given that list of genres I provided, I'm certainly *not* being close-minded.

Leather jackets. I'm bringing them back.
I don't know, but at my school there are quite many people who wear leather jackets, I'm one of them.

OP: Unfortunately things like patriotism and values seem to be "yesterday" nowadays...

Guitar music in the charts.

It's nice that The Strokes and Radiohead's latest albums are charting, but it's certainly not the impact they used to have. I'm personally a bit fed up of auto-tuned r&b/pop dance hybrid tracks about getting wasted. Of course, it's a phase and this sort of thing goes full circle.

decency and common sense come to mind.
also, raising one's kids appears to get more and more out of fashion.

Ahh, Pogs, they were amazing.

Pokemon trading cards
Furbies
Those fold up scooters which you could pimp with flashing wheeles
The skateboreds you used with your fingers

I was thinking of all those things as well when I saw the thread topic :)
Also, I was one of the many that collected pogs. Pogs were bloody amazing. They just seemed to disappear over night though.
