You're a legendary warrior who can vanquish any amount of cannon-fodder put before you. You've been training for what seems like an hour, and you're ready to take on the badass, serial-killer boss. The bad ass boss has been known to wipe out ENTIRE VLLAGES with ease. He's feared throughout the land, known as a pure incantation(or creation) of evil. So, you show up at his death lair. You carve through all of his fodder, and you walk through all the skulls in his throne room, hanging by tendons and organs. His eyes are blood red, filling with the bitter vitriol he feel for mankind. With a gut wrenching scream, he runs at you, howling with the summary of madness!
Then, he misses you. He goes back to the same position, and charges again. He misses you. Then, he goes for a swipe that'll leave him vulnerable for a few seconds. You swipe your sword vertically and hit him. He reels back from your deathblow and somehow mounts another attack. He does the same pattern again, but he charges one more time. You exploit his tactical weakness and score yet another critical strike. This time, he starts to get REALLY mad. This time, he slams his mighty fists on the ground, sending out a wild wave of pure energy.
So you jump vertically and dodge it. Then, he charges you 4 times, and you strike him down with an intense horizontal strike that leaves him screaming in agony for a 5-10 second cutscene. You open an ordinary decorative chest in a backroom, get a new shield, and you run off to fight more fodder.
I'm playing through 3D Dot Game Heroes right now, so you can see where I'm coming from. It may not be as much of a problem now, but bad-ass pushovers are always a story buzzkill for me.
