I find Slayer (thrash metal band) really soothing to listen to. I use them to soothe headaches when i'm over-stressed and i always feel relaxed afterwards. Totally bizarre reaction i know.

Also, pulling dried PVA glue off my hands...it tingles gently if you do it right and is quite an odd feeling...nice though

Drum and Bass: lots of other genres as well, but a good DnB beat just lets my brain breath for some reason.

Rain: pretty typical

Youtube make-up tutorials

...yeah, really don't know how that happened but its just soothing having a female voice talking for background noise. Haven't learned anything from them except they can be calming.

Good gods that is good, thank you! I'm currently reading a book called Berlin Noir, those 3 tabs suited it all perfectly. Makes me feel like I should have a red dressing gown on while smoking a pipe.

These videos.
The relaxing, soothing voice, the great guitar gear being shown.
It's like the best meditation mantra in the world.

I like shaving. I like it a lot. But what I absolutely love is taking my time with it. Right after a shower, just chilling like a villain in my bathrobe and stuff. I whip out the premium foam and my best razor. I apply some hot water to the blade and just let it slide on my skin, making me feel even warmer. I usually wrap up with some ice cold water, just for kicks.

Also, another great way for me to lose my worries is going to a sauna. Doesn't really matter which kind, but I'll prefer wood-heated over electric any day.

And then there's these.

I recently had what, for the sake of appearing normal, I am going to call a minor outburst over the current stagnation of my life and the frustration of those hopes that it was going to get moving. I went out just so I could stand on a bridge and look out at the river. I guess its fairly common to find water relaxing or what have you but when you think about it there is no reason the stuff ought to be seen in this way, it can be dangerous.

While im on I'll just add this, a passing motorist actually stopped to ask if I was alright, which was decent of him..I have to wonder if I appeared to have been attempting suicide or something, I had actually only gone there to be near the water not drown in it.

I dunno why but deep vibrations make me melt. I'm talking about the kind you get when someone is, say, jogging on a treadmill a few rooms away. You can't hear anything except the deep thumping and you can feel it through the walls.

Obviously not when its enough to make the walls shake and you can actually hear the footfalls, but every few days in the evening, I can feel the thumps as someone runs on a treadmill (or jogs on the spot, not sure which).

Cool showers,
the sound of rain,
and having my hair stroked.

Long walks in the dead of night. The scent of wet, freshly cut timber. Listening to Gary Moore, Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, Rush, Zeppelin.. All or any combination of these is normally enough to lighten my mood and relax.

There is only one external thing that can soothe me... and that is because it will completely mesmorise me... and that is light displays/fireworks. It completely distracts me... and I can't do anything else!

I really like a certain smell on my hands, but I don't know what causes it. I think I get it sometimes when I drive my car alot, so maybe it's something in the steering wheel.

Tom Waits. Which is weird because it sounds like his throat needs soothing.
It must be genetic, he calms my baby down too...like instantly.

The sound of trains. We had a house right across from train tracks when I was a kid, and now whenever I hear trains(especially if it's a muffled sound of trains) I get reaally calm and tired.

Piggybacking off of Neonsword here...
Repeatedly watching the Hiimdaisy persona 4 dub.
And Kiyeri, the game gets worse.
A lot worse.

Having my hair washed at a salon. Head massages are *amazing,* and the feeling of water running over my head is just nice for some reason.
