I don't have any fandoms I hate because for the most part their public perception is represented by a vocal minority. I understand that most fans of anything range in likeability and as such don't bother much with thinking about them.

Portal maybe? Though I can't actually say that anyone's "ruined" anything for me. I just find it annoying that I can't even Flippin' talk about Portal without some moron, as Yahtzee puts it, "braying like a mule if you so much as mention the word cake." Also you can't even begin to know how much I hate the fact that even mentioning to someone (who hasn't played portal) how good/funny the ending song is, results in one of those idiots in the background breaking out into singing (they memorized the whole damn thing?).
this is the kinda thing I was talking about, the kind of fans that make you wish you hadn't brought something up

Do you mean the part where it was a total pile of shit, or the part where everybody waited a decade and a half for it?

World of Warcraft. I can't stand to play the game for 5 minutes without being disgusted by how awful the community is. 5 years ago I was addicted to it more then any kind of drug, now even thinking about it makes my stomach turn and changes my mood negatively.
Have you tried questing solo?
in regards to DNF I meant that it was a total pile of shit and we all spared not our throats in saying so,

I can't believe I'm the first one to say Insane Clown Posse. Wait, does it count if the fans ruined it for me before I even heard them?

EVE Online, the elitist segment of the fighting game commuity, World of Warcraft, corkscrews, and 90% of all movies that come out throughout the year.

Special mention to Megaman fans, i cannot think of a fanbase more [Expletives deleted]

Lol. Letting fans get to you.

I'm over that, I think I was a baby teen when that last got to me. Nowadays I just take it in stride. There's plenty of things I love with the greater majority of the fanbase I wouldn't touch with a 40ft pole. BUUUT, I would give them a friendly nod all the same.
Better to let them squabble among themselves than get involved. I like, what I like. And no pissant is going to ruin it for me.

Not completely ruined but still pretty bad: mmo communities. It's a paradox really: Can't live with them, but it wouldn't be an mmo without them.

Pretty much entirely ruined: left 4 dead 2. Versus games end in rage. Always. It's just integral to the game as it's largely a consequence of how the matches are set up. I'm so sick of it I only play friends-only games anymore.

Honorable mention: moba communities. Heard horrible things, played one, myth confirmed.

I'm going to have to agree with seven eight nine people above me: There's no need to let fandoms skew your opinion of anything.

I can think of a few intellectual properties I gladly indulge in who have some of the worst fans I've ever met. But I am capable of avoiding contact with them, and most the time I forget they even exist. Out of sight, out of mind, free to enjoy things on my own.

Call Of Duty. Every time someone speaks on it. It's either

1) Annoying little 12 year old who if I met in real life I would chase him down the road with a plank of wood. He keeps going LOOOLUSUCK! OMGUCHAETADDDS! and just generally know pretty much nothing about games or actual warfare (Don't know much about warfare meself but I probably know more than them).

2) Person who has obviously spent too much time playing the game because all his kills are ludicrously stupid such as throwing knifes or 1080 degree upside-down inverted kickflip blindfolded no-scope whilst eating a banana in one gulp whilst juggling blazing chainsaws with scorpions in their shoes and ferrets down their trousers. And go "Lol you suck compared to mah clan." Of course because I don't stay inside practising COD because I tend to go out with me friends and do stuff like drink and play football etc. and socialise.

These two groups basically ruined COD for me.

BTW Taka Michinoku is awesome.

BUT THEY MADE HIS EYES GREEN! [HEADING=1]GREEN![/HEADING]

Ahem.

Fan-bases haven't ruined a product for me, but I try to avoid them in large numbers because the Sonic fan-base and Bioware forums have shown me things... things that can't be unseen...

V for Vendetta, specifically V's outfit. I think he looks really cool, and I love the mask, but since it's become the symbol of Anonymous and the Occupy movement it'd be impossible to wear it as a costume.
There's reasons they use Guy Faulkes as iconry.

Fans don't usually get to me, but with My Little Pony they did. I showed MLP to my best friend, then my best friend became a brony and that was the turning point for me. He would go on and on about it. Asking me to edit all his fanfiction, asking me to do scripts for his youtube show about it. Then he started talking to me about an episode, and I've seen every episode, I had no idea what he was talking about, then he said "oh, sorry, that's fannon." Then all his raw anger at the issue known as "scootabuse" And he was so full of rage about it. He just got a bit too extreme about it I suppose. It means a great deal to him. I did bring it into his life. It means a lot so I help him out, but I cannot deny that it has put me off MLP. Also all the damn fuss about the background ponies ruined it for me.

I don't give two shits about fans.

As in, if they're acting like retards, I make no association with the thing I like, to people who act in ways that annoy me. I just call them idiots, not "X" fans.

I only really think that fans being dicks can put me off a game franchise with a strong online component, because that's the only time that you're forced to deal with them. A vocal minority of bronies piss me of, but the majority are generally a friendly, amiable bunch. At least, the ones on here seem so. They don't seem like the types you get in some places who jump down your throat just for not really caring for the franchise.

Well there was this one time when I was making a house of cards on a hot day. I turned on the desk fan almost unconsciously without even thinking about it and before I realized my grave judgement, my 10 minute masterpiece was absolutely totalled in 10 milliseconds.
Fucking Fans. I hate them!

Not really ruined, but still has diminished my enjoyment for the show.
Zero Punctuation. You can't discuss Yahtzee anywhere anymore because his rabid fans have given his show such a bad name, thus also birthing legions of haters for the series.

Some of his "fans" just take a look at the name of the game he made a "review" of, and say "That game sucks!" without actually checking if he liked it or not, and then go around collecting quotes from that video and then use them instead of their own opinions whenever they get in an argument about vidya.

Just look at the usual comment sections for his videos. They usually begin with something such as "wow I'm glad I didn't buy that game :D".

2: the "smart" wrestling fan

basically remember the reaction to "Duke Nukem Forever"? imagine someone reacting that way to EVERYTHING! basically a cynical asshole who barely even mentions the parts of any show that he/she likes and if one thing goes in a way they don't agree with then suddenly the whole thing was a waste of time regardless of how good everything else might have been,
Can I just say "This" and move on? No? Fine.

In case you can't tell from my name, tag and avatar, I'm a wrestling fan as well, and I can say for the most part, I hate wrestling fans. It's like the "smart" fans can't have fun with it, and if you aren't having fun with your brand of entertainment, pick a different one.

Now that raids are open to newer players (and I can finally get on one!) its only gotten worse. Thralls balls, if you don't crunch your numbers to Noxxic's percise class sets, you might as well not play as elitist butt holes will laugh you out of the raid.
