Don't we already have Pico for that?... though he was on the side of the innocent school children and was the good guy. (well sorta, unless you actually shot Nene and the guy in the stall.) Actually being the ones to shoot up the school would ramp up the controversy to 11.

Sequel to Bullworth academy: Gary's revenge. Gary comes back with an assault rifle, two uzi's and a flaming chainsaw katana and starts killing everyone (starting with Sheldon in particularly bloody style of course.) the final boss is the principal, Jimmy is the dragon. Prefects and clique heads make sub-bosses.

EDIT: Ends with Gary getting a bullet from a dying Jimmy and falling to the ground from the roof, transfixed by his own sword, still revving of course.

Actually that would make for a pretty good first chapter name for the worlds most controversial game. When a game starts with the words "Blood, sex, rape, minors, drugs, genocide and racism" you know its going to be seriously messed up.

Second idea: A game that presents racism not as individual prejudice, but as "a system of advantage based on race". That would get a lot of attention. It's a hell of a lot more subtle than the child necrophilia and Holocaust-causing people have suggested thus far.
EDIT: And portray everyone as stupid for not realizing what the real definition of racism is.

I was considering having these games include the horrible music of Brokencyde to round off the experience, but that on its own isn't controversial. Just horrible. Evil, even.

It would have to include multiple factors. Things like killing children aren't enough on their own really especially seeing as they have already been done, and it's simply stupid modern censorship that has been causing issues.

Racism has also been done, there is actually a (now dated) game out there called "Ethnic Cleansing" which is extremely racist, but that didn't get much media attention either (some, but not a lot).

Generally speaking to create a truely contreversial game you'd have to do something like I have talked about in making a seriel killer simulator which includes aspects like rape, torture, murder, and other things combined with covering such crimes from the police and such. Create what amounts to an interactive rape/torture simulator taking graphic depictions to unprecedented levels, combined with GTA type mayhem options, supernatural/occult involvement (allowing the protaganist to gain horror movie type powers), and elements related to the seriel murders based on real life police tracking/response tactics. Sort of combining CSI, snuff flicks, and awesome 80s horror movies into one package for the truely jaded gamer/horror fan.


Truthfully sex, including rape, loses a lot of it's impact when it's really all there is to the product. In general sexuality tends to be more hard hitting when it's very intense, but ultimatly part of a bigger package. People tend to react more strongly to intense sex scenes in regular movies with a plot, than they do to just straight porno.

I want you all to imagine something with me: Imagine a game where in the first half or so, you spend the game like you would a regular game, fighting evil, watching characters develop etc. Then, in the worst possible manner, make the protagonist snap/flip out and kill or rape them with a spiky stick and no lube, OR make the villain turn the characters you've grown to know and love into vegetables, corpses, rape victims, dead rape victims, victims of incest. It should also involve betrayal and Tim Curry at some point.
