Personally, I think the sonic Series should just die, but if Sonic games are going to get any better here's what I think should be done

-Sonic needs to shutup: Sonic did better when he had no speech.

-SLOW DOWN: Sonic games go so fast you can't see anything and then you just hit the wall or fall into a dark pit of GAME OVER.

-Stay way away from hovering surfboards: That game was terrible.

-Enough Characters: There's enough characters in the game already.

How would you change the Sonic Franchise?

Odd, the one I bolded is the exact opposite of what everyone was saying before.

Seriously though, I know it's been said to death but let me put it this way. Sonic gained prominence in an era when games were clunky, plodding, drab, and slow, by being smooth, wicked, frenetic, and whiplash-fast. Sonic 2 kicks mario 3's ass every time because it nails the flow -- and because it offered a unique experience AT THE TIME. I would prefer if 'Sonic Team' focused their attentions on creating a new, unique experience which does for current gaming what sonic did then, rather than stabbing another decade-old franchise with the shock paddles (and then creating a game to simulate the ensuing seizures).

Seriously Sonic (like alot of old game characters, but more so) has lived out his life, its time to lay him to rest, and try to find a new game character... Oh wait.. *Remembers billy hatcher* actually just scrap the entire sonic team..

If Sega had given up and stupid gimicks for sonic and just mad a regular sonic 2.5D game (no voice acting like original, no dual worlds, no hub, and no fucking army of charaters) sonic may not be headed to the deapest darkest deapths of videogame hell.

Ending it would be the best thing.
Zero Punctuation did a decent job of illustrating that it's all a dead horse at this point.

How about if they took it back to basics.. like the "new" 2d mega-man? Wouldnt that be able to sorta save the reputation of Sonic (Of course it cant be saved just beacause its 2d and look like the old, but have some new competitive bosses and clever level design perhaps?)

Or is sonic just a roadkill that can't be saved now.

They tried that with Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic is about running around not shooting things.

I think that a new Sonic game should be like Megaman 9 by doing it the exact same way as the originals. See, just have the first Sonic the Hedgehog with slightly updated graphics (such as Bionic Commando Rearmed) and new levels and BAM! A good Sonic game. See, he doesn't need a big sword or a crappy camera. The first sonic game was fun, just keep it like that!

I think Sonic needs a manual transmission. Think about it: classic Sonic level design with the ability to CONTROL your speed. There could be strategic gear shifting to clear large jumps...

...of course, the key is that any gameplay modifications be purely optional and not get in the way of classic Sonic gameplay. And besides this innovation, I think Sonic is best with classic level design and no gimmicks. I could totally do without all that railsliding, btw.

Honestly? Stop making games period. Sonic Team has clearly shown that they can't make a decent game. Sonics dead, just let it go.

Step 1: Fire Sonic Team. Everyone. Out of a cannon, preferably.
Step 2: Choose one of the following:
a) No more Sonic games, period.
b) Turn it back into a 2D platformer in the Sega Genesis/CD style; would work even better now with widescreen formats becoming popular.
c) Series re-boot: base it off of the old Saturday Morning cartoon/Archie comics. Sonic running around on bombing/terrorist-style missions? Sounds a lot better than the junk they've thrown together before.

Yep the sonic team definitely has to be put out of their misery, they can't even make a good non sonic game (Billy Hatcher)

Easy. Just play Sonic 2 again. That'll at least make it seem better.

Oh, and on a somewhat related note, they should re-release the original NiGHTS into Dreams. Just to prove, again, that the game works so much better without needless dialogue.
