I'm not laughed at for much, part from I collect gaming figures and statues and also my love for Iron Maiden. Someone burst out laughing, and fell of their chair. Others have done the same sort of thing...

Taste in music, and being good at guitar.
How the hell does being good at guitar warrent an insult?

Eh hem, "OOHH MY GOD YOU JUST SHRED AND YOU HAVE NO FEELING YOU SUUUCKKK!"

Something like that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVGTiHREjJI That's me, just to show you what they mean.
I wish I could get up in the morning and do that. Sadly I can't play a musical instrument to save my life.

Lets see, my dad dislikes my musical taste, my need to grow facial hair, the fact I enjoy videogames, the fact I want tattoos. When I had long hair he used to have a go at me all the time, now that I've got it short he says I need to grow it longer because I look like a thug. I'm such a dissapointment, yay!

Others mock me for my taste in music, despite the fact I listen to pretty much anything. Ok mainly I listen to folk metal but still. What's wrong with Warhammer anyway? I know they are little resin models of soldiers and you throw dice to determine if they kill other little resin soldiers but damnit it's fun!

There's this online game where you can build an entire digital place out of Lego bricks. My sister teased me so much because of it.

I also used to play this browser based nation-ruling simulator called "Cybernations", which I was also made fun of by my sister because of it. 2 months after I quit, my sister and many other people started getting addicted to this drug called "Farmville".

World of Warcraft.

Whenever I tell someone that I play it in a game like, oh.... let's say Modern Warfare 2, I usually get a few groans or a snicker or two.... though, a lot of the people who play MW2 are pretty close-minded anyways so I shouldn't be offended really...

D&D, my brother is the only one really, but I remind him that he is a complete WoW arena addict who gets into the top leader boards, so he is no better than me. (Note: Ive never played D&D but I do have a boatload of sourcebooks.
Oh, yeah, I get some shit for my D&D-ness, as well. You should play it, it's a total blast.
Yeah but I doubt any of my friends know how to play or would have the patience for it.
Then kidnap them and force them to play with you. All of life's problems can be fixed by a simple kidnapping.

I still like most current Sonic games, so apparently that means I'm a furry fanboy who will buy a literal piece of crap if it has a Sonic sticker attached to it. What? It's not like I go around proclaiming "Sonic and the Black Knight is the bestest game evveeeerrrrsss!!!"

I don't think the series is as good as it once was. I just disagree that every game in the last ten years has been broken and unplayable. And believe me, I've played games that fit that description. I think most of the people who throw those words around have never played a truly broken and unplayable game. Go play X-Men for the NES and see for yourself just how bad the teammate AI is. It literally prevents you from progressing through the level.

Or how about Big Rigs Over the Road Racing, a game so broken that you're guaranteed to win every race because the other racers never even start moving. THAT is a broken game. Something that is so poorly developed that you literally can't play it the way it was intended. None of these current Sonic games have these sorts of problems. They may have a few bugs and other noticeable issues, but they are far from being broken or unplayable. The only major problems I've seen with newer Sonic games are the gimmicks, and it looks like Sonic Team has finally put those to rest. Finally.

People laugh whenever they hear me refer to Lord of the Rings as the best movie/book trilogy ever. I then tell them to leave the room.

Mine would have to be my favorite disney movie 'hunchback of notre dame'. I seem to get a lot of reactions that go to 'Really?' or 'you like that?' to 'THAT'S your favorite disney movie? Not beauty and the beast or something GOOD?'

I dunno why so many people seem to berate me for loving this movie. Whenever I try to explain stuff like it has one of the best animation I've seen, a great musical score, and is one of the darkest movies disney has ever made; I usually get a 'yeah whatever'. I suppose it's because the movie is based on a novel that wasn't meant for kids (and I did read it and liked it) but I still don't get why I seem to be the only one around who enjoys it.
I never mention loving that movie in public.
But you are officially awesome.
Take this as a reward.

OT: Certain ignorant people, who have no knowledge of the historical facts, insult me for liking the Wehrmacht.

And I get that statement a lot from other friends, that the music I love, which is full to the brim with instrumental and vocal talent, is "just noise"
If the video you so...kindly...brought to my attention is the music you love, I'm inclined to agree with your friends. I heard no talent of any kind in there, and I tried, I really did.
Not trying to spark an argument, just stating facts: I play the drums, have done for years, and when listening and watching Converge's drummer play I cannot concieve how I would even begin to try and play something that fast, precise and complicated. Right there, that's incredible talent. A mate of mine plays guitar and agrees that their riffs are mind-boglingly complex. So yeah there's buckets of talent in that band, it's just that the vocals are a tad overbearing for most
I listened to it again, and I'll give it to you the guitar is pretty good. Drums didn't really impress me though; it could be that one of my good friends (who's played drums for...shit, I don't know how long, maybe seven years, possibly longer) improvises better than that. But he's a freakazoid and I'm convinced he's going to be rich and famous one day so I can ride on his coattails. Vocals just aren't my taste, I'm sure someone likes them.

I want to say right here that I don't mean to knock your taste in music, but the way that the song blended together it's easy to take it for noise at first glance. I know plenty how it feels to get flak for a band you like, some people just really don't like Coheed and Cambria.

Sword play. Do it all the time. Used to be pretty good, but I've since lost a lot of my strength, speed, and coordination. I'm getting a little better, but it's a slow process. Anyway, some people think it's cool, some make fun of me. It gets mixed reactions.

Some people refer to me as an organ donor for my love of big bikes.

fast forward to 1m40s and then 3m40s

Sure it might kill me, but it's my choice, I wish some people would get off my back!

Let's see:

Listening to Heavy Metal and Punk music
Listening to music from Japan, no matter what genre.
Video games
Manga
Anime
Drawing and writing rather than doing something 'more practical' or with my life
Not watching or caring about any sport or local team
Wearing all black often
Studying and practicing Japanese (after all, if I want to stay proficient, I have to practice)
My taste in cars (eco-friendly, good handling, fun-to-drive hatchbacks)
Being environmentally-conscious

Errm, where should I start... OK, my taste in music - I have what is sometimes referred to as a Catholic taste of music (I like a broad spectrum of music) which in my case consists of Genesis, Lamb of God, Eminem, J-Pop, K-Pop, Led Zeppelin, Pendulum, Cascada and various other Techno, Electronica, Rock, Pop etc etc on my iPhone which I sometimes get ribbed for.

Also, my taste in video games - I like Pokemon and LEGO games as well as things like Gears and CoD and also RPGs like Mass Effect, Fallout and Fable which seems weird to some of my hardcore FPS-playing mates.

Hmm, last year, everyone in my science class said my hair was, and I quote, 'gay' coloured because it is such a weird mix of brown, blond, and black, I don't think there is actually a name for it, apart from a hash code

Oh, and finally I get ribbed for playing Rugby League and the Piano...OK I know its kind of weird but seriously, stereotypes are not realistic most of the time.

Your avatar is AWESOME. As if you turned that comic thing into a GIF...sorry.
Oh and I totally agree with you about Sonic games apart from 'Sonic and the Secret Rings'. I'm sorry but the Wii controls on that were awful.
