I liked the kinda lackluster story in part 2. I was just playing someone who tries to get through life while everyone else is going crazy. Really fun stuff. This is however not a good way to end a trilogy in my opinion so i don't even want to see that again.

Maybe change the combat back.
Maybe more than 2 likable characters (Yes i'm counting Isabella as likable, don't judge me)
Maybe more than 3 different locations/dungeons..
Due to me playing as a rogue and the mentioned limited amount of likable chars combat was kinda funny. If the enemy "boss" was a mage i usually had won instantly while fights against templars or a real boss ended with me running in circles for several minutes, trying not to get hit.
So maybe smarter enemies or enemies with some kind of abilities besides hitting...

1) A game that isn't trying to be Skyrim by being open world. Skyrim wasn't even that good, why are we trying to copy it?
Most people disagree strongly. Skyrim received overwhelming acclaim from fans and critics and sold over 10 million copies.

I want having blood magic as a sub-class have an impact on conversations. I want being a mage to have impact on conversations. There's a goddam war going on where one of the factions is defined by being mages. If you being a mage doesn't have some impact, I'll be sorely disappointed. It was a hugely missed opportunity in 2, and I hope they don't miss it again.

I want Ranged Rogue to be viable without a game-breaking ability given to them like in Awakening. Ranged Rogue was shit in Origins, and in 2 wasn't much better. Awakening overfixed the problem by giving them an aura that made them into spear-chucking machineguns.

I'm hoping they don't nerf Dualist. I loves me some evasion tanking. And speaking of some of my favorite classes, I'm hoping there's a return of the Arcane Warrior. Best tank in Origins.

I want to be able to say fuck you to every party member like in Origins. You could literally go through 95% of the game with just you and Alistair and I loved that I had that option. Sure, you could just not bring them, but they still hang around your camp like unwanted guests, or show up unceremoniously while picking your party. I wanna play it like a buddy cop film again, at least on one playthrough.
Arcane warrior.... Best thing in DA:O full stop, was a really cool idea though. Combined with battle mage or sprit healer you could solo the Archdaemon no prob, then call him names.

First of all, improvements to Warrior class. I liked what was done to this class in DAII (crowd control, Aoe stun, life steal+stun, etc.) but I'd like to see buffs to his/her basic damage. Maybe more high-powered skills that are directed on a single enemy.

Second, classes do not need both cooldown and mana costs on their skills. It is a bit too much. Make it like this, for example: Mages don't have cooldown on their spells, but they cost mana (mana potions are expensive enough to stop players from spamming). Vice versa with Rogues and Warriors.

Third, better male love interests. I wanted to play as fem Hawke, but Anders is too crazy and Fenris is too broody. I want someone like Alistair or Varric for my girl.

EDIT: Also, keep the combat from part 2, but loose the "gigantic sword" weapon, normal sized once are fine.

And please, DO NOT make me a center of conflict, a "Hero" of every man, woman, child and puppy, or psychopatic mass-murderer that rules the world, while sitting on a throne made from skulls of those who opposed me.
This is what I liked in DAII. I wasn't saving the world, finally. I was saving my own ass, and then my City. Not the country, not the world, just the place where I live.
I am kind of tired of modern gaming's approach to PC being the "last Spirit Monk", or "The child that survived", or anything like that.

Are characters, that try to save something less then a galaxy are beneath us, oh so god-like gamerz?(yes, with "z". It's "cool" to change s for z, isn't it? As cool as saving the WORLD!)

Not reusing the same fucking areas like 3 dozen times would be a nice start.
Better writing would also be much appreciated.
And go back to the "silent but still speaks" protagonist of Origins. Having the PC voiced limits actual options seriously. Having some general grunts and in-gameplay voice reactions like in Origins is enough for me to be able to imagine them talking.
And combat that isn't the anti-human atrocity we got in the second game. My god it still makes me throw up. *throws up*

well start by having choices from past games matter. im about halfway through act 3 right now and it seems like my only choice that made any difference was making alistair king.

make archers less useless.

give the player character more character. DA2 was a big step forward from origins, in terms of giving you a personality, but id like to see that expanded so that your character is at least as interesting as your companions.

KEEP THE VOICED PLAYER CHARACTER. i dont understand why so many people want to return to playing a character who communicated through sign language. for me, sound makes a big difference. not having a voice in the first game made it hard to care about my character. i felt like i was just kind of...there, as a tool to move the story forward

a return to the more strategic isometric-ish gameplay of the first game

Arcane Warrior was the best! High five!

I want to be able to turn around and say to my party members: "Shut the hell up or I'm turning this car around so help me!"

I do hope that both the Warden and Hawke appear in Inquisition. It'd be a bit weird for the Warden NOT to be in Inquisition, considering Leliana's appearance at the end of DA2. Also, according to Wikipedia: Mike Laidlaw mentioned that playing as a different character "does not mean your old character may never appear in future games". It'd be nice for the three 'champions' of the games to make an appearance for some sort of battle, e.g. a final boss.

The combat system of 2 with the overall tactical mechanics of Origins would be nice.

I want them to stop forcing auto-dialogue onto my character that directly contradicts how I perceive my character. No words should come out of my characters mouth that I do not choose to speak. It's been slowly getting worse with Bioware games to the point the dialogues are more or less just cut-scenes.

Less broody male LIs. Seriously. The romances in Bioware games are imo a great way to add replay value to the game, and I seriously don't want to suffer through a bunch of Fenrises and Anderses again.
LI:"I'm so dangerous, I don't deserve you. I love you. You are so kind. I'm bad for you. Can I move in with you? You wouldn't understand. You're going to hate me. You are too good for me. What will people say. I can't do this. I need time. I want you. I don't want to hurt you. This is Justice. I'm so bad."
Hawke: "Oh GOD! Shut up!"

...shudder
I don't think it would have been so bad if they hadn't both had very similar personalities, with the only difference seeming to be that one hates Mages and the other hates Templars. I made sure to never have them both in the same room just in order to stop one of them getting pissed off with me.

100% agreed, it was quite jarring to be able to perform blood magic in front of Templars and none of them batting an eyelid.

To do this properly they need to remove class weapon limits I think. My favourite Arcane Warrior In DA:O had a magical sword so they were basically a warrior but with magical protection rather than a shield, it was so damn fun.

I want something similar. I want it to be left up to the player to decide whether or not they like a character. It's not been as bad in DA compared to ME, but a lot of the time I feel like the writers have already decided who "my" character does and does not like before I even get the option to say anything.

EA are guaranteed to be involved, seeing as Bioware are owned by them now (Although I suspect you were making the point that EA suck? Which I agree, they are a bad influence).

Casey Hudson isn't a part of the Dragon Age team and never has been.

I could go into detail why Skyrim is broken, shallow, and one of the most overrated games in existence, but that isn't what this thread is about. My point was to let Skyrim be Skyrim and keep Dragon Age feeling like Dragon Age. The first game was not open world, and it didn't need to be. This obsession with needlessly making a game "open world" is leading to games that spread themselves too thin. I don't want to see that happen to Dragon Age.

Ehh, I learned long ago that particular logo on any game means you do not buy said product. (Ironically it was Dragon Age 2 that brought it about).

I wish I had that level of self discipline, but unfortunately if I like a series I tend to get a game even though it helps EA's existence. Although considering the last game I bought which they published was Dead Space 3, and it was merely "I should have rented it" I may be able to refrain from getting interested in DA3, unless they learn from their mountain of mistakes during the next year or so.

DA:O Warden with speaking roles and Hawke from 2 as party members. When speaking to them or having them in cut scenes, your control all their dialogue, but only if you imported them from previous games.

I was one of the unfortunate ones who bought DA2, because Origins was such a good game. DA2 was absolutely shit. I used the DA2 disc as a coaster then snapped it in half.

What I'd like to see in DA3? EA gone from the picture for one, nothing that resembles DA2, selectable races, and a game similar to Origins.

Now I know it won't happen, as it's EAware, what i expect DA3 to be is a slightly prettied up DA2 with that useless and idiotic 'hawke' POS character.

I don't think there is any way to turn an RPG PC into an NPC in a sequel. Any attempt to characterize them would be out of character for the majority of the players, and not attempting to characterize them would be even worse.

I completely agree, the reason I voice this concern is because of the countless BSN threads begging for it, and Bioware doing their typical cryptic "Who knows what will happen" kind of response. I worry they might give into better judgement just to try and please some fans, like they did with the incredibly cringe-worthy Joker/EDI romance.

Less repetitive dungeons, obviously.

More choice with the protagonist. I liked being able to start over with elves, humans and dwarves. More of that, please! Maybe an extra mage one where you start off in some sort of rebel blood mage society? That would be cool...

A mix of DA:O and DA2 would be good!

If the combat is anything like DA2, I'm not getting it. I wish they'd make it more flexible, more loose, less like a PC game. Then I'd check it out. You can always include an option for automatic combat, where you decide which moves will be made beforehand. For me, I want gritty, hands on combat. Not button mashing. Gritty, intelligent, combat that YOU control.

As for the story - right after it launches, we'll all be able to see every plot, every choice on YouTube so screw the story. I'm sure it will be passable.

I don't see why they would get rid of Hawke, since he and his sister play a major role.

Isabella and Avaline should come back on a side quest. Their banter was classic, especially after they become friends.

I would like the combat to be more like DA2. But I want more environments. I want more romance options, I don't want to have to choose between two emo characters again. God damn what did they do to Anders in DA2 D: I really hope they don't ruin Morrigan, Witch Hunt was utter crap in my opinion.

I want more Varric.
