BAM! Guessed it!

Ahem...sorry, just amusing that my first assumption was unlikely, but ended up right.

Anyway, as for me: My parents are very much pushing me into continuing my course at uni. First real harsh conversation I've had with them...very unpleasant to say the least. It's not fun knowing you've disappointed your parents enough for it to be physically painful.

Thing is, they don't really understand my reasons nor the industry as a whole, so I've very much taken the most educated course of action, but dropping out of uni has a certain stigma attached that I don't think they're able to overlook.

I wouldn't mind going back, of course. It's not that I didn't enjoy the non-pressure side of it, but it's very expensive and time consuming for something that amounts to nothing in the end. That and I'm a little too aware of mortality and aging and such to feel the time being wasted is negligible.

As for you, Mr. Op, in most places that is technically illegal, but IMO that shouldn't be a personal factor. My guess is you're not interested in the girl though, and that should be enough for them to drop it. If not...well, they're parents. They mean no harm, but they're probably not going to seriously consider alternatives unless you present one that meets their standards. For example, find someone yourself (but not just to please your parents, of course. That's rarely a good start).
Having not had that experience, I can't really say anything with much certainty. Sorry.

I'm supposed to have a minimum wage job, but the search for one has been unsuccessful. It doesn't help that the only real qualification for a minimum wage job is experience doing other minimum wage jobs. Fortunately, I think I've found an alternative. In the mean time, I need to do research and refine the plan.

My dad desperately wants me to be a doctor, but until I can support myself to some degree, it's out of the question. I like the idea of being a doctor, though.

My dad (a Maths teacher) is indirectly making me stay in my A-Level Maths despite me getting Us in all my class assessments, and I've got a proper module tomorrow which, judging from all the past papers I've looked at, I simply won't be able to do.

I say indirectly since I've told him everything's fine xD I very much doubt 6th Form would let me drop the subject early, although that's kind of odd since having one less U in the subject would look better on them, and it won't affect me in anyway since I'm heading for As in my 3 other subjects.

*sigh*

I know my parents are trying to make me do (or possibly even 'be') something, I just don't know what, yet. They keep having these weird conversations in front of me as if they are trying to hint something, but I guess I'm too dim to pick it up :)

My parents are betting who gets a girlfriend sooner, me or my brother? Yeah, it can get quite awkward sometimes.

Oh and if you're interested, my mom thinks I get one first -_-

I'm not on speaking terms with my mom, my dad's been dead for 25 years, and I'm single so there's no "other" in my life.

Next question.

My father wants me to be a broker/trader, but I want to be a physician.

That's about it, really.

Is it bad that I thought of the Seinfeld episode where Newman get's out of his speeding ticket by claiming he was rushing to save Kramer from killing himself for never being a banker, upon reading that?

That said my parents haven't tried to get me to do something I didn't want to, though they used to try and set me up with weird blind dates.

I've never seen the show, so I can't tell you. :p

My dad is trying to make me learn how to sing. Probably to compensate for his own lack of talent in the area.

(I'm pretty decent at it, but nothing to brag about).

My dad wants me to go into therapy so I can cure my lesbianism.
How does one 'cure' lesbianism? It's more just convincing you it's a bad thing and telling you how to like men. Which I wholly disapprove of, I might add.

OT: My parents never really become involved unless I ask them to.

Make? Well... not quite "make", but... turn torwards.

In particular, my attractions.

If you have seen my posts before, you know what I am talking about.
You're fairly new and you've not posted all that much considering the amount of stuff that happens on this board. I and many, many others have never heard of you before and we would be much obliged if you didn't try and make us "get to know you" by reading your post history just to find out your 'special secret'

Be that as it is - elaborate!
Last time I elaborated, I was suspended. But, I assume that was due to the way I said it.

But since you asked nicely(using the word Elaborate no less) I can tell you.

*Takes a deep breath*

I, Leumas Selaznog, am a non-offending, law abiding, Loli loving, non-childmolesting ... Pedophile.

[sub]Don't shoot me.[/sub]

EDIT: OT: Wait a burger flipping minute, OP, wouldn't that be illegal?
....

How did they do that?

OP: I can't think of any my parents have done, they don't mind for the most part as long as I'm happy. My ex on the other hand, tried to persuade me to do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted and pay for everything. Part of the reason I dumped her.

The parental has been trying to make me apply to college. Now don't get me wrong, I want to go to college. Just not here, and not right away. But no, apparently wanting to go after some time off means that I won't want to go back at all, and I'll have ruined my life.

My mother, being the ex hippie she is, isn't particularly happy about me doing a degree in earth sciences, as I'll probably end up prospecting for oil or something like that. She's trying to convince me to do the qualification that would allow me to teach geography or something.

And my crazy grandad keeps telling me to propose to my girlfriend every time I see him. To be fair, I'm considering.
