Think for a moment, what if video game movies Didn't suck?

If we lived in such a perfect world, I would love to see good movies based on:

Outcast (would need some trimming, but it could be done);
Sanitarium;
Full Throttle, the script is ready, just follow the game story scene by scene and it's done;

Those are the ones that com to mind right now, more later if I remember.

Oh, and I'd love to see a good Silent Hill movie, that old good twin/bad twin shit they pulled was horrendous!

Well the main problem is that most don't understand what games are enjoyable for the gameplay and what is enjoyable for the story. That is the first thing here, and why the Mario Brothers movie wasn't that great. It is a series based on gameplay, so trying to put a story on it for the sake of a movie doesn't mean you are going to get anything good. No More Hero's if it was made into a movie it would suck, because it is mainly driven by boss fights. Awesome they might be, doesn't mean it will be a good movie. Now games that are a bit lose with story and gameplay can make for a good movie. Jack and Dexter might make a good movie just like Ratchet and Clank might as well. The problem is that they will be trying to make something they think fans will like rather then focus on making a good movie. Mortal Kombat cause it took everything the game had and made it work for a movie. Sure it wasn't the best in the world, but it was best it could be because of the source material. To make a good movie with games you're going to have to rips its guts out. Something that Movie Bob made a good point of in The Road review [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/1105-The-Road] which makes a good point on this.

The Witcher as a film might work, plenty of source material.

The Poles already had a shot at it, and it sucked ass.

OT: Dunno why, but I guess the Borderlands Pandora could offer a pretty good setting for an oddball action film that breaks the fourth wall a lot.

And then there's Assassins Creed, as a proper film. Not 15 min shorts.

Personally, I loved the Resident Evil movies. All of them.

Let's see... I'd like to see a Metal Gear Solid movie. Too bad that got slammed. Halo movie might have been interesting if the CGI was good enough. Seeing how Distrct 9 turned out pretty damn awesome, a Halo movie would've been pretty cool, I think.

Killzone might make a good B action movie.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare could certainly make an excellent movie, I think. The game is movie-esque enough already.

Doom comes to mind...Why the fuck did they change the basis of the story line? In the games They opened a Portal to hell. Very Cool. In the movie it was a fucking disease that changed the people.

Now, if they didn't suck, the movie would be as awesome as doom 3. That simple. Same with Max Payne. And Dungeon Siege. I could go on.
