Yeah, so I'm basicaly done with school. Still not sure 'bout this, and not doing anything drastic yet. Probably gonna try to tough it out, but I'm really unsure. I know most of the downsides, but I really want to hear some ideas/thoughts on this from some one else.

I'm only 15 (16 in Feb), so I may have to wait until I'm old enough to secure some kind of job...

So, opinions?

At least finish High School.

Trust me, it will help later in life. I'm not saying you have to go to college, but really. At least finish high school. A high school diploma is pretty much required for any job these days. And if you don't have one you'll be fucked in life.

Opinion? Don't. You will have drastically lower chances of getting a good job if you don't finish school. Go through high school, go through college, and find a career that will be both enjoyable and fit the lifestyle that you'd like to have (ie. makes enough money to buy stuff you like in addition to necesities).

Whatever is convincing you to drop out (drama, lack of interest, crappy school, whatever), get through it. This is a relatively small part of your life, and suffering through it will improve what is ahead of you.

Even with a really pimp degree, you are still nowhere near securing a semi-decent job. Don't drop out dawg, it gets better.

Not only is it a dumb idea, but isn't it illegal to drop out until you're 18?

You already know all the reasons you shouldn't drop out, there are lots of them. You want to because you think it'll be the easy way out, but it won't. Here's a lesson on life that they don't teach you in school, life is tough, but you get what you pay for. That means that the more you invest in your education, the more you'll get out of it. The less you invest, the less you get out. Investing sucks, because it takes time, effort, and can sure as hell drain you emotionally, but it pays too. If you drop out now, you'll regret it later. But you don't need me to tell you that.

So, wait a minute. You just made another thread stating that you might have a breathing problem.

It's kind of hard to have health insurance of any kind without a good-paying job. It's hard to have any kind of life without it.

Nobody wants to hire a quitter mate.
Finish High School, then think about whether you want to further your education or get a job.
Some drop outs do alright, but you shouldn't take such a chance on the hope of being lucky.

That's my opinion anywho, and the only one I can think of without any knowledge of why you wish to drop out.

Don't drop out, finish high school. Otherwise, you're more than likely going to end up unhappy and working some dead end job. Why take the risk? School is free anyways.

Why is it that you want to drop out?

Get steady job,get girlfriend, wait until have enough money for an engagement ring and 3 room apartment, marry girlfriend and live happily ever after.
JK I would really suggest to just take it all the way through school.
I know you may hate it and your probably just stressed out but it is the best direction for your life to head to.

Nothing wrong with doing it, but don't drop out yet. I dropped out because I had a decent job lined up when I was 18, and haven't regretted it yet (almost 23 now).

On top of that, in the last year I've started casually obtaining my high school credits via correspondence, and will have that soon anyways. The only thing to stress is that you shouldn't quit if your only alternative is some bullshit job for minimum wage. If that's the case, might as well ride out the school thing before hitting a dead end in your life.

Unbelievably bad idea. Dropping out just sets you up for an extremely difficult life down the road whereas at least finishing high school could help make it a bit easier.

Just gonna go ahead and agree with the rest of the people here. I'm hoping you aren't waiting for the people to say 'oh I dropped out and I'm a CEO etc etc etc...'. Even the success stories that come from dropping out of college are one in a million. You need education. You need this. There are not many excuses for dropping out of high school that can hold water. People who get super sick and can't come still get online GEDs. Highschool is the first stepping stone. You need highschool. You mostly need college but I guess its not required.

Whatever you think is a legitimate reason for dropping out you really need to reconsider whether its worth making the rest of your life harder.

High School isn't all that bad just get it over with and get that piece of paper that tells everyone that you are actually worth something so that you can get a somewhat decent job. If you can't handle high school then I doubt you could handle a job where you don't get any slack. So yes, tough it out; it'll be over before you know it. When I was almost done, it seemed like only yesterday when I just started.

I was in the same boat as you were... I was just "done with school". So, come junior year, i dropped out. Now i'm in college and on the same track i would have been if i had just stuck with it and graduated.... I had to get my GED, and then take the SAT and get amazing scores on it in order to get into college, but if you feel like thats what you want to do, and you have something else you plan on doing when you drop out, go for it. live your life. Not everyone fits into the "cookie cutter" mold that society expects everyone to fit into. I left school. did some crazy shit, and then went back to school. skipping the whole shitty high school crap. Not all dropouts end up as fuck ups. just saying. :)

STAY. IN. SCHOOL. Not only because of what the above posts say, but also, I read something about 75% of state prison inmates are high school dropouts.

So let's see your choices:

Stay in school and have a good chance of being employed...

OR

Drop out and have a good chance of being behind bars.

Please tell me you're not gonna pick the latter.
