Thinking about getting an Xbox

If I am lucky enough, I plan to get an Xbox this upcoming holiday. So I want to hear from the escapist, what are some games that you'd recommend?

This is not a "complain about games you hate" thread. Please recommend causal titles as well (that is not on the Kinect), and no Halo/Gears of War/Call of Duty games.

This is going to turn quickly into a horrendous flame war, just to tell you.

Games I'd recommend? Dungeon Siege 3 is quite fun, as is Saints Row 2. Up-coming games? I'd say take a look at Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City, and maybe... Yeah, I'd say you might like those.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is amazing too.

The PS3 is really coming into it's own right now, so, yeah.

OT: Well, anything Bioware, Fallout 3 is pretty good and Portal 2.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is looking pretty good.

All of the above, plus Fallout: New Vegas, and the original Bioshock.

For XBLA I would go with Castle Crashers as a good choice. It's a silly little side scrolling mach 3d beat em up. I'm pretty sure the Scott Pilgrim game is pretty similar, but I haven't played that one.

mass effect if not picked up already crackdown is pretty fun

and no Halo/Gears of War

doesn't it defeat the purpose of owning a 360 a little?

I enjoyed Red Dead Redemption.

Failing that or those mentioned above there are a lot of good looking games coming out soon. Dead Island, Deus Ex, Skyrim and Space Marine if any of those tickle your pickle.

I assume your speaking more toward exclusives (nice avatar btw CBB FTW)
Alan Wake is a really good well written game all be it a bit short.
Any game by Twisted Pxiel is well worth the money excluding comic jumper.
Trenched is fairly cool.
Left 4 Dead 2 ofc is amazing.
Orange Box is more then worth it.
The Mass Effect series is very good.
Crackdown series is very fun.
Dead rising series is always a good laugh.
And Fable is my personal joy, and I think you will like it as well as long as you can throw the
"its not hardcore enough" out the window.

Isn't it a little late to be getting a 360? New consoles come out in a few years, if not next year. Plus, if you don't like Halo or Gears why bother?

Well, I know the Wii U is coming out (which I would like as well), but as far as I've heard the new Xbox won't be out until 2015.

I said no Halo/Gears because I figured a whole lot of people would post that, and I've played it with my boyfriend and I couldn't get into it. I did enjoy Borderlands though.

Well, I figured everyone would suggest that and I know there's more to Xbox than Multiplayer Online Shooters

Viva Pinata is about as causal as you can get, I think. So yeah, I'd suggest that.

Bayonetta. It's extremely fun and doesn't suffer from any of the issues the PS3 version does. Would definitely recommend checking out the Mass Effect series as well.

Well, your not mention list kills most of mine. Try Oblivion, Mass Effect, Dragon Age. Alpha Protocol was pretty good. Assassin's creed is also a must. Playing some of those should give you a pretty good idea where to go next.

Well since you are a girl I can't help but suggest you get kinect and that dancing game... with some name.

And the Sims, but a fair warning before you do, it may lead you to bankruptcy so be careful.

Suggest some games as if I were a boy then. The kinect will be way out of my range, and I already have the Sims on the PC.

Honestly, there's not enough 360 exclusives to justify one over the other. I do prefer the 360 over the PS3 though because of overall console friendliness and the controller itself which I find easier to use.

If you don't want to hear about Halo that's fine, I will tell you however that if you consider Fable at all then overlook 3 in favor of 2 which is the better one. Also, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. I forgot about those but they're both really good if you're into that sort of thing.

true I don't have my 360 at the moment so not all of my games are with me are you getting gold by chance? some games are better if playing online (like borderlands)
