First person.
It's all about the immersion here. Playing in third person is like guiding a (rag)doll, not yourself.

Well obviously, thats why no-one has done that.chozo_hybrid said:To be honest, I prefer 3rd Person
Imagine any fighting (Tekken, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear etc) game in 1st person XD That would handle like a garbage truck.
Touché, if one would have such monitors.ratix2 said:are you aware that there are monitors that allow for preheripal vision (curved monitors and 360 degree projectors), right?
But it's possible to do that from first person?ratix2 said:and on that note its impossible with current hardware to recate outright realism because we dont have the tech for real time photon mapping, fully dynamic textures and environments and entirly realistic physics, so honestly i think your (cant recate the human vision) is kinda moot in that respect.
Immersion is overrated. Nothing you just said was anything but subjective rant. Only the last part, which I still think is hard to replicate.ratix2 said:but finally, i vote first because the only way to kill immersion faster than bugs that make the game unplayable is by using a third person perspective. take bioshock and half life for example, if either of those games were third person shooters the immersion would be completly non-existent. with first person your seeing things through the players eyes, and in that regard putting yourself in their place.
first off, did i EVER say its possible in first person? no, learn to READ.Nincompoop said:Touché, if one would have such monitors.ratix2 said:are you aware that there are monitors that allow for preheripal vision (curved monitors and 360 degree projectors), right?

I don't like either one of the two games you mentioned.
No, you didn't, but you used that as an argument towards first-person perspective being superior.ratix2 said:first off, did i EVER say its possible in first person? no, learn to READ.
Sigh. That's like saying; "The game experience in a game can be the difference between an average game, and a truly memorable experience". Do you even know what immersion means? Or are you just using it because Yahtzee uses it?ratix2 said:finally, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT OUR OWN FUCKING OPINIONS, OF COURSE I'M BEING SUBJECTIVE AND OFFERING MY OPINIONS . and i, as well as many others, disagree with you, immersion can be the difference between an average game and a truly memorable experience.
I haven't stated that said games 'suck', nor that they are bad games. I, personally, didn't like them. I said it, because you used them as an example of immersion, oblivious to the possibility that perhaps not everyone thinks so highly of those games.ratix2 said:also, thanks for proving that your no better than those lovely idiots over at gamespot who tout their opinions as fact, as evidenced by this statement:

just because YOU think immersion is overrated and YOU didnt like half life or bioshock that means they suck and they arent shining examples of what can be done with video games as an art form. please, come back when youve grown up.
