If you have a decent PC or even an older game rig you can run the game in PSXE with filtering and other options that will improve its graphics.Gxas said:Chaosritter said:I feel like I just took a level in nerd for having heard about most of these games and having played around half of them...
Yeeeeeeaaaah, about that:Gxas said:I got a $50 Amazon gift card for Christmas and said, "Dammit, I'm buying Vagrant Story!"
Then I saw the $102.00 price tag for "CD with case and booklet"... So I bought FF Origins, Chronicles, and Anthology instead.
I still want a copy of Vagrant Story, as I've never finished the whole game, but I NEED to have the whole package or else I just feel dirty...

Never got into that game, but I was pretty young when I got it. Maybe I should give it another shot someday.YOU ARE A GOD AMONG MEN! (I never check Ebay usually, because I've had bad experiences in the past, but this is quite worth another shot)
EDIT: And it is purchased. Wonderful. My collection of the PS1 JRPG greats is slowly increasing!
Emulation takes so much away from the charm of the original. I prefer to own the games I play for the PSX. I can't fathom how you could comfortably play any of these games on anything but a Dualshock controller.ZippyDSMlee said:If you have a decent PC or even an older game rig you can run the game in PSXE with filtering and other options that will improve its graphics.

Gxas said:No Vagrant Story or Brave Fencer Musashi?
Bah. Both of those deserve that list (despite BFM not actually being all that great)
These games have been on so many lists at this point it'd be just internet fanservice to add them at this point. Especially Vagrant Story. It's world was the foundations that lead to a spinoff story so good (FF Tactics) that the spinoff's world Rababastre got a full game in it called FF 12. Oh how much I rage about how FF12 was just one change away from being the best Final Fantasy of all time.Signa said:I'm sad that No One Lives Forever didn't get a nod.
It's pretty easy to hook up a PS3 comtroller to the PC. Literally one program.Gxas said:Emulation takes so much away from the charm of the original. I prefer to own the games I play for the PSX. Besides, this way I don't get that stupid video shake that literally every Vagrant Story ROM already gave me.
That requires me buying a PS3 or PS3 controller. I have my Xbox controller for my PC.AzrealMaximillion said:It's pretty easy to hook up a PS3 comtroller to the PC. Amen to this. I think BB1 is one of the best fighting games ever designed. I found it to be superior to the sequel, though I did like the addition of more characters and weapons.AzrealMaximillion said:Bushido Blade 1&2.(PSOne)
The best sword fighting game of all time. Sorry SW Jedi Knight. One hit kills. Limb damage that lead to drawbacks (having to wield a 2 handed sword in one hand poorly), and no super special move BS like that has gotten into most fighting games barring Tekken.
It gets the functionality of the DualShock2 done. I honestly don't get why people hate on the DS3 so much. I get why they don't like it but it wasn't garbage compared to the DS 2. My buttons were in the same place and the d-pad was and still is the best when it comes to fighting games.Gxas said:That requires me buying a PS3 or PS3 controller. And besides, the Dualshock 3 is crap compared to the Dualshock 2.
The installer doesn't run on modern OSs, but you can just rip the CDs to a folder and it will work. I played it not too long ago for someone who had never heard of it.Flatfrog said:That's a great call. I never understood why that game isn't remembered more than it is - original, well written, great gameplay - it just didn't catch on.Signa said:I'm sad that No One Lives Forever didn't get a nod.
I found my old disks for it just the other day. I might just dust them off and see if they still work.
It's the weight and the R2/L2 buttons. It just doesn't "feel" right.AzrealMaximillion said:It gets the functionality of the DualShock2 done. I honestly don't get why people hate on the DS3 so much. That being said, buying a PS3 controller is the only way you're going to get that nostalgic fell in your hands. I suggested it because I'd do the same thing. To each there own I suppose.
Keeheehee..How this frenetic combination of Pac Man, Bomberman, Lemmings and Hungry Hippos failed to become a continually updated gaming staple is beyond us. Designed by Sonic co-creator Yuji Naka it's a fast-paced maze puzzler in which players have to place arrows on the floor to direct a line of mice into rockets so they can escape the giant cats. In the four-player mode, participants can also use arrows to direct the feline enemies toward competitors, making for fraught, hugely tense encounters. [...]
