We write our dates day month year in the order of how large they are. We dont write month day year because it makes no sense, this is probably britain hes talking about. Do all dates in america get written like that? That seems really really weird.
Europe: Little-endian dates - smallest unit first, easy enough to remember and pretty intuitive (fits other conventions like little-endian postal addresses)
USA: Middle-endian dates - just because.
Japan: Big-endian dates - makes as much sense as little endian, with the added bonus that sorting lexically is the same as sorting by date - a lot of programs that include a datestamp in filenames therefore use this format.
I actually don't know about the rest of the world, anyone care to enlighten me about Asia, Africa, the rest of the Americas?
