Wonky animations aside, I want to actually play what I'm seeing! O_O

Also, I've been thinking about ways to mix up FFVII's over world map problem that many people talk about as being one of the reasons a modern revamp wouldn't take. NEVER did I even consider the possibility of a first-person view. THAT was all kinds of genius that I am actually straight baffled.

Maybe Square will take notice that this demand from fans is not going to die down. Sadly, based on their track record, I just KNOW it won't be as smart as what the people in this video have done.

Good show! I know I'll be starting up a new game of FFVII after school today!

It was kinda cool. There was a nice touch with the wanted posters and Zach appearing in the life-stream. If they're gonna make it into an actual game, I'd worry about its potential future. I seem to recall Square pulling the plug on a similar project with Chrono Trigger.

If they actually do make this an actual game, they need to work on the animations a lot and add in a combat system.

I said it once and I'll say it again. FFVII should never be remade.
Even as a fan of the game, I don't really disagree. I have my doubts as to whether a remake would do the original justice. Could Square resist changing combat and other iconic systems? Would the iconic systems even stand up to the test of time unchanged? Could a game that features the hero cross dressing, massive amounts of blood, and cursing still get a Teen rating? Oh, and Barret and Cid and their "dialog"...

I have plenty of reasons to doubt a remake.

Neat, I don't deny that it needs work, (not to mention what the hell was up with the Zack cameo...), but still, not TOO bad...

People should stop waiting for a FF7 remake, though, at least something to "Advent Children"'s standards.

I keep waiting for Square to pull something jerkish like the Chrono Resurrection and for all these things to get taken down.

I guess maybe Square learned their lesson. That punishing fans who possibly have the capability and will put in the effort to making a superior product with their franchises than they are, is bad business. I'm hoping.

I miss that Chrono Resurrection project, by the way. Forget making bad games, that was one of the truly worst things Square ever did. Punishing fans for essentially creating a doujin game of a high calibur.

Oh look, first person.
Yeah, that part about the trailer was really lame.

These were my first thoughts upon seeing that.

First person perspective is really overused among Westerners. I hate it and it's a paradigm we really need to escape. Further, jRPGs are not very compatible with first person perspective, especially not Final Fantasy. Shin Megami Tensei was one of the only ones to ever use it, and they quickly abandoned it.

Yuck at that first person perspective in that trailer, yuck, yuck yuck. I'm betting it was only used because the third person mechanics would have been too buggy/unpolished to show off.

It's not bad for being fan made. My only irk with it is that it's in first person. Apparently everyone else doesn't seem to like that either. Besides, what's with the---HOLY CRAP, IT'S ZACK!
Erm, as I was saying. Yeah, seems like it's got good graphics. The actions get as bit wonky though.

I would have been impressed, if the animation was more dyunamic and most of it was not in First Person Perspective.

really Escapist? You changed it to Amazing(ish) well you sure changed your opinion fast.

You people really need to understand, this is a hand full of people doing this as a school project, yes its not perfect, but they don't have a few million dollars, and a few hundred people working on it.

How would you people feel if i came into your school while you were trying to draw Mario in art class and i told you how shitty it was, and then told you to stick to booger eating kid.
Perhaps this small team is being too ambitious then. I agree that just saying it's shitty is not very nice, or helpful, but the video just screams "amateur".

I think labelling it as a "remake" project hurts it. If it was labelled as "FF7 Homage Project" or something, it might get less flack. As it stands, there's miles and miles of room for improvement. Can you imagine playing an entire game like? It brings back memories of the worst shareware games ever made.

This is the most inaccurate fan remake/homage I have ever had the displeasure to see Tifa's boobs were way too small and it threw the accuracy of the scene out the window.

Meh, I think calling it "one of the best RPGs ever created" might be just a little bit of exaggeration...

A wanted poster for Sephiroth?

They didn't even know Sephiroth was alive at that point.

And what was that bit about Zack appearing for no reason?

Thank you for reaffirming my belief that FF7 doesn't need a remake.

I wouldn't consider myself a fan of FF7, per se - I've never wished for a remake, I haven't played the spin-off games, etc. - but I did enjoy the game and could see why people might want a remake of it (taking a look back at screenshots/gameplay video now, good lord, such blocky little characters, ugh).

That said? This video...no. That was just...that was bad. The art was passable, but the actual content was discouraging. I don't think I'd be waiting with bated breath for updates on this particular project even if I were hoping for a remake.

I DO consider myself a fan, and I didn't play the spin off games, and I refuse to watch Advent Children for that matter.

They have always tried to shoe horn in more story for a story that was solid, concluded, and didn't need any more story to tell it.

It also hurt my caring that the first spin off game was based on Vincent... and I hated Vincent with a passion.

Graphically it looks very pretty but it would have been better to keep it non-fps. The animations in the original during the fight scenes were kind of "juttery" but not as much as they are here - its like the devs have tried to retain that feeling on purpose but taken it too far.

TBH I wouldn't mind seeing a FF7 remake purely so I could play it on my current PC without having to run it through a VM.

Also in response to Draconalis; I hated Vincent too, ghastly little emo that he was. Didnt stop me from grinning with delight when I unlocked him though as I missed him on the first playthrough :D

Your first time can be forgiven... you didn't know what you were getting into.

I wish Final Fantasy VIII would get a fraction of the love that VII does, for me that game was the highlight of the series.
