Actually, yes you're right. What was I thinking?Draconalis said:8 was terrible.Electric Alpaca said:I wish Final Fantasy VIII would get a fraction of the love that VII does, for me that game was the highlight of the series.
Glad I could help. It pleases me to set a wayward soul on the right track. But don't be fooled, 7 doesn't need a remake either.Electric Alpaca said:Actually, yes you're right. Thank you for preventing me from wasting more years rating this game highly in my mind.
Final Fantasy VII is my personal highlight of the series now, and I wish they would hurry up and remake the original.
Exactly.Quaidis said:I don't like this fan-version of the remake. As nice and detailed as it is, it seems extremely clunky, made me motion sick, and I don't understand at all what the fascination of jumping on the boxes is. Didn't they realize that they couldn't get over the damned wall the first two times?
But hey, that's just me. I'm just glad that a remake like this one isn't being made.
I am playing it now on my PSP and it is still better than any current gen JRPG's that I have played. With it's bad graphics, that's quite an accomplishment.floppylobster said:If you remake it you're only going to realize the game was not as good as you remember. It had its time and place and that was many years ago. Most people remember it fondly because it was their first introduction to RPGs or Japanese storytelling, not because it was some amazing game.
FFVII used the ATB system which is basically what FFXIII uses except VII let you control the whole party.Beautiful End said:And the movements in battle seem slow, like it has been pointed out before. The only reason why slow movements (If we should even call them that) worked for the original FFVII was because it was turn based. But now that FF has pretty much got rid of that and has adopted a more active battle style, the movements are more fluid and feel more natural. Just look at FFXII or XIII.
I understand. It was just a joke. You must admit it looks funny saying Nintendo would be up to their fourth version of the seventh version of a game, which is now up to its fourteenth, and which Nintendo had such a stake in for the first six games.dimensional said:Indeed 14 very different games just listen to the bitching about which one is the best and worse for proof of that generally things are changed characters, battle systems, plots, gameplay devices even if the last one proved popular whereas Nintendo much less so they find a formula that works and stick within it sure there is innovation within their template but it is the same template can you imagine the chaos that would erupt if they changed link in the next zelda game with an almost identical character but he was blue carried an axe and was called clive. Note I am saying template not genre they are two different things oh and I am not complaining about Nintendo either.floppylobster said:Instead they're up to number 14. Or should I say XIV.dimensional said:...seriously if Nintendo owned this game it would be on its fourth reiteration by now.
That kind of a big assumption to make isn't it ? Everyone and their mother Played FF7 ( well almost) and not all of them started playing Jrpgs with FF7 ( quite a few YES , but i don't think thats the case with the grand majority ) . FF did have a decent fanbase in NA before 7 , not as much as afterwards, but fan base tend to grow with time , as with any game .floppylobster said:If you remake it you're only going to realize the game was not as good as you remember. You're right but I think if we took a poll 'FF7 was my first JRPG' would come out on top by a mile. Amongst people I knew in 1997 the split was about 2/12. 2 being those who had previously played a JRPGs (12 had not). Remember the PSX era was a huge boom in the number of 'gamers' so many did not have a chance to experience JRPGs before that (many were not even born in time to).krazykidd said:That kind of a big assumption to make isn't it ?
