I'm running AVG9.0 free

Well, I'd ask at the PC-cilin website. I don't use that one, but haven't had a problem. Generally speaking the following possibilities present themselves:

#1: PC-Cilin is borked, or too sensitive to something.

#2: This site is putting out spyware/tracking cookies/whatever but it's so well handled that most other protective programs are bypassed, but yours for some reason catches it. I wouldn't think this site has any kind of actual "Virus" in the general sense, but it *IS* a business and I don't remember seeing anything specifically saying that they *don't* partcipate in such things. On top of that they also seem concerned about traffic and to pay some attention as to how many people come through The Escapist even anonymously (don't know why, I've just gotten that impression) and it might have something to do with how they gather this information.

#3: PC-Cilin (I don't follow anti-virus software too much, but I'm guessing it's a small company) might for some reason have an axe to grind with this site. It wouldn't be the first time I've heard about programs that function with the internet doing wierd things when it comes to sites the developers don't like. Maybe the head of whatever company makes PC-Cilin got banned for trying to yell "first" in response to a Zero Punctuation and swore eternal vengreance or whatever and set his program to discourage people from frequenting this site.

In the end I admit I have no idea. I haven't heard about anything bad happening to anyone as a result of this site though, so generally I wouldn't worry.

never had that problem.
Though it might be a difference in browsers and a difference in the OS

I've never gotten a virus from here and my Anti-virus says that the site is safe.

Though, I did lose my sanity and my soul. Both belong to the Escapist now. O_O

Nope, no problems here. Never had a virus from here, and my antivirus isn't blocking anything from here nor has it ever told me I should.

Id send a PM to the Mods. they need to be told that their site is "dangerous". Anyway, they can probably clear up whatever is going down.

now u come to the right man, i for one do ICT in college and know several reasons that message has come up...

1: ur internet security is really high, if it is, change to medium (change in internet options)

2: ur anti-virus is old and crappy, i suggest the free version of AVG as it does everything you need.

3: you got a virus from a different (or even this website somehow) website and its some how affecting the escapist.

this website should be 99.9% free of viruses, apart from the odd prat who try's to hack it, it defiantly aint the website and its at your end

Hmm....ok. it says the address is different than what I have in the task bar. Do you happen to know what that would mean?

Check to see if PC-Cillin is a fake virus scanner. If you downloaded it off of the internet, there is a chance it is actually an infection.

My brother gets that problem with the Army site, it says he needs to buy some kinda disk or whatnot with a program. Just try ignoring it or changing your virus program or sacrificing virgins, there's plenty to choose from.

I don't get such problems, of course I use Norton.

I know it's dangerous, though.
Damned soultraps...
I hear they give it back once you hit 30,000 posts. You are almost there!
