Maybe OP's anti-virus is right, and the rest of us are going to be doomed when the site finally decides to explode... o_0

I've never gotten that message.
I know it's dangerous, though.
Damned soultraps...
I hear they give it back once you hit 30,000 posts. You are almost there!
They said that about 20,000!
I...I don't know if I can keep going!
Aw, who am I kidding.
I'll give it a shot!
If I'm not back in three months, I'm dead.
Take my body and drag it behind a limousine for five hours before burying me.

If you don't have any AV protection how would you know?

Anyway, the only thing dangerous from this site is how much time it can suck up. For instance, I should be doing some work now...

Not to mention all the flying pancakes we have here.
Now those are awesome.
They decapitate the slow people!
That's how my best friend died, flying pancakes.
He will live on in out hearts forever. *sheds a tear*

OT:Never had a problem

Never gotten a virus from here before, but that may be because I use a Mac.
Ah the Mac. So reliable. I would have one if it could play video games :(
My brethren uses a MacBook and it is all sorts of awesome.
OT:This site is perfectly clean.

I have a question, and this seems like a good place to mention it rather than start my own thread.

Anyway, I was away from my computer (and thus away from The Escapist) from the beginning of October until Christmas, and now that I'm back I've noticed that The Escapist site keeps automatically reloading every 30 seconds (or so it seems), and unfortunately I'm not Johnny 5 so I don't have time to read the web address that it's reloading.

Does anybody know what this is about? It's not really too much of a problem, except it can cause my browser to hang if I have a lot of Escapist tabs open, plus it is a bit annoying distracting when I'm watching something in full screen.

I'm sure it's just some advertising thing and is quite safe (I trust the staff here), but I would like to know for sure what it is, and I'm wondering if I missed some kind of announcement telling us about it when I was away...

Alright, before you go on saying all you have to do is change the virus scan settings to your computer, or some other fix (which I and everybody else know's)...my point is this;

My virus protection(pc-cillin), for the past month, has continually been telling me that this site is a dangerous website due to 'server lookup error'. Suggests that I "Close the web browser window and not reopen the site." EVERY TIME I upload or refresh a page.
Now I know I can stop this, but why is my online virus security saying that about this site, and none of my other favorited sites?

Anybody else seen this and have a reason why this is occuring ONLY on this site?
My protection doesn't say that. But then I'm using McAfee... I don't know how reliable this "pc-cillin" is... guess you could look up review for different virus protection programs and figure out which one's better.

Whenever I'm on the Escapist, PeerBlock starts to whine about stuff (like at the moment: Quantcast - 4.71.209.22), but it's harmless... Just ad stuff or tracking cookies, nothing you won't get on any other big site.
