The ending of Marly and me (the book-it was written by the guy who owned to dog so I'm imagining it's far more genuine than the film) was just outstandingly poignant. The ending of Zack and Wiki was also pretty saddening.
And in Okami when
And in Twilight Princess when
And let's not forget THE AMBER SPYGLASS. So many points in that book had me miserable. I shed many a tear. Plus the ending of the first book, Northern Lights (or The Golden Compass if you're unfortunate enough to believe that is the true title, when the device in the book has nothing to do with a damn compass) was sad, as was the part when
And as for the aforementioned Amber Spyglass
And that concludes my deadly sadness assault.
And in Okami when
Issun has to leave Amaterasu because he can't board the heart. 'Twas sad
And in Twilight Princess when
Link finally came face to face with Llia and she just looked at him for a second, then turned away. It was a heartbreaking WTF moment for me. Turns out she'd lost her memory.

they tried to rip the main character (been a while, can't really remember the names) away from her soul-or daemon if you prefer
And as for the aforementioned Amber Spyglass
when they have to leave their souls behind to enter Hell-that was heartbreaking. I just wish I could find that damn book again, but I have no idea where it is. And let's not forget the true killer-the two main characters have to live in a separate universe and never see each-other again. It's been done many a time, but The Amber Spyglass manages it in a sublime and magnificent way. Phillip Pullman is a genius.
And that concludes my deadly sadness assault.
