This is an inauguration...not a superbowl.

How does everyone here in the U.S. of A. feel about the inauguration festivities going on for the whole day? I don't recall any other president's inauguration going on for this long. Isn't it a bit ridiculous or am I just being a stick in the mud? I'm talking about the fanfare as well.

I pose this question to people living in the US, because I'm unsure of the coverage elsewhere in the world. It is still going on and it seems to be continuing well into the night.

Wait, that was today? Hmm... Maybe I'm not as in touch with what's happening as I thought.

I agree that this time there was much more a focus leading up to the inauguration than normal, but that's just because most people are sick of the last president and couldn't wait for the new one who will, according to the news, ring in a new age of peace on Earth.

Well you guys were just freed from eight years of tyranny. Frankly I don't know why you all aren't happier about the idea.

I found it funny when he forgot what he was supposed to say and had to start over

Some people will seize on any excuse for pomp and circumstance. The only part of it that *really* annoys me is that they're using MY tax money for it. If they want to throw a big flashy party, they could at least have the decency to pay for it out of their own damn pockets.

Well it was hard for me to ignore it today seeing as how the staff at my school put up tv's during lunch so we could watch. My lunch is at 10:45 and it's still going on.

I guess you could say let them have their day, but...enough is enough. The man gave a great speech, sure, but honestly this is just dragging. There is nothing more to say. Its like the damn airplane that went down in the Hudson River over here in New York. That took up the news for the next 4 days. This will no doubt be on the news for the coming week.

The judge was actually saying the oath wrong, that is why he stopped.

I've heard of people taking the day off from work to watch the festivities all day long. Even those that go to work seem to be spending a couple hours watching everything.

160 million dollars...as opposed to Bush's 24million and Clinton's 33 million dollars. Oh well, no skin off our backs right? -_-

Indeed, the last one cost like 40 mil and people threw a fit about that but with this one up over 170 million no one seems to mind...... Except me I'd like my cash back, even if it does just work out to 2 dollars per tax payer, I coulda had 3 drinks from my school vending machine.

Its been obvious since the race started that the media was MASSIVELY slanted in Obama's favor. I hate how everyone they interviewed said that this was the fulfillment of MLK JR's dream. Racism and discrimination still exist, it just doesn't affect most of the people who vote enough to have them vote for William Henry Harrison and Palin
