Ditto this. She can be forgiven. Kesha however cannot.

No you don't brush your teeth with a bottle of Jack, and if you did you would have no teeth. Maybe little yellow stumps. Stop trying to popularise a lifestyle you don't even live.

You don't listen to it because it all sounds the same? I don't listen to it because listening to it is about as pleasant as vomiting.
Quoted for truth. I hate pop with a passion because its not art, its a product. And they have the gall to call themselves artists WHEN THEY DON'T MAKE ART!

Kesha reminds me of Dot MadTV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfdtjMdqhpg

I had the misfortune of hearing her song when I worked at this one pizza shop a few months ago, and her song makes her sound as though as she's a drunken whore.
She is a drunken whore.

Hang on, Todd can explain exactly why she's a drunken whore a lot better than I can: Click this link here and all shall be revealed. [http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/tis/tpsr/25037-your-love-is-my-drug]

(If you're not the person I replied to but you're reading my comment anyway, click that link too. This guy pretty much says all that needs to be said and you can check out his other videos to get a clearer picture of where he stands.)

What I hate the most is that somehow Kesha feels she knows how P Diddy feels in the morning. That's just presumptuous.
I'm a bit concerned over the fact that she wakes up feeling like a black man.

Justin Bieber - Baby (baby, baby, baby oooo and repeat)
Diana Vickers - Once (once, once, once, once and repeat)
Chorus of 'She's So Lovely' by Scouting For Girls: 'She's so lovely (x8)'

Anything by Black Eyed Peas usually follows the same thing. Take line, repeat four times, that's the chorus.
Oh god see? Theres just SO many. I forgot about Scouting for Girls, and now it's going to be stuck in my mind.

I just don't get why the majority of people really enjoy songs which just involve the same word repeated? If I do a song and repeat the word pudding, would everyone buy it?

Hate Kesha, tolerate Katy Perry. I hate pop radio because it seems they play the same four songs-of-the-week on a constant loop.

Actually, thats basically why I don't listen to any new music anymore.

Kinda puts me in mind on how Kirby syncs up so well with rap songs.

Here we have 50% of Katy Perry's fanbase.
She has more than two fans methinks... har har?

But seriously, I don't expect music to always be brand new or different. Anything slightly fresh is fine in this saturated music industry. I'm sure almost any music is guilty of similar traits. I mean even classical music can be very simple and yet still brilliant, like Pachelbel's Canon.

Also... Katy Perry is fuckin' much hotter than Pachelbel.

Sorry but you also need the voice of a druken whore or a four year old. I'm sure you could just hire someone for that though.

How is "pop", music defined?
There has always been crap like this kicking about, but in a few years there will be something else in the charts that's equally contemptible.
rock that revolves around the progression of chords, rather than riffs, and is usually really popular.

Give me some booze and a recording studio and I'm sure I can get close.
And if that's not good enough there's always good ol' autotune - surely that's mandatory on these records anyway?

It's because the Music Industry is full of greedy bastards who find someone with an okay voice, and then gets some dude to write generic love songs for them to sing. And anyone who falls for it is completely stupid. Within ten years I guarantee Justin Bieber, Kesha and them lot will be completely forgotten. It's what the music industry does, it's been corrupted for some time now. Why do you think the music from twenty years ago was so much better?

People buy because it's marketed well, has a catchy beat, and is easy to listen to and easy to find. I dislike this music, but real music is not disappearing, it's just moving to different places.

How's this for pop?

But anyway, I don't think that's a very valid argument - that they sound the same. So many songs in so many genres sound very very similar. The problem I have with pop is the absolutely retarded lyrics, usually degrading to the entire human race.

I listen to a lot of electronic music of various sorts. Often, one day I'll listen to a whole swath of music that sounds very similar. I just like that type of sound, on that day. Maybe the next day I'll listen to a different sub genre all together.

You can't really claim any genre is ultimately unique, because you can always find several songs that will sound similar - rock, metal, RnB, DnB, House, classical (well, less so with classical I suppose).

So... hate pop for the stupid messages it sends out and not for the actual sound/similarity of it.
