Very true. The hardship makes the victory all the more satisfying, and even better when you see someone who's new to the experience, help them overcome a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, and give them a little bit of hope. Dark/Demons Souls are two of the finest examples of people working together in video games, not for personal gain (there are much easier ways to get souls/humanity than being summoned) but for the simple feeling of kinship, and the knowledge that you've helped someone overcome a challenge that you yourself have struggled to overcome many times before. It proves that games can be more than senseless killing and can actually make you care about the world you've been shoved into.
