"This video may not be broadcasted after June 2015"? Why EA said this?

So I just watched the Launch trailer of Secret World. Very good I must say.
At the end of the video that is was the copyrights of the game, was a very confusing [for me] sentence:

"This video may not be broadcasted after June 2015"

*See the end of the trailer to see what I mean*

So I don't know if this is something normal for all games and I didn't noticed for so long and I saw that just now, but why EA did addressed that? Why specifically June 2015? This is somekind of agreement with the developers of the game? This is the year they will not support anymore the game and they will close the servers?

Thank you for your time.

Maybe that is the day they plan to shut down the game servers?

That is literally the only reason I can come up with for such a random date to stop having a video being viewed.

Indeed, this is a solid reason, but again this sound very confusing if this is true.
Maybe in 2015 will shut down the servers, but why they care about a video?
I believe is something more than that.
Maybe they have some other kind of plans with this videogame franchise that we don't know?

I will get a very, VERY wild guess and I will say if the game is indeed become very popular, they have plans to update the graphics like the did with WOW at some point.

Hilariously, I don't think they can stop anything just by saying that. They couldn't broadcast it themselves, but the fair use act protects anyone else from EA taking it down. So haw. :p

WoW never did have a major over-hall of it's graphics engines, from what I can find. The closest I can find is a possible mention of them upgrading the water textures, but nothing even confirming that.

Another possible reason is that EA has a deal over the copyright of the game and video, but the deal expires in 2015.

Weird, I never played WOW before, but I though they said Blizzard updated the graphics with the new expansion "Cataclysm".

Anyway, I will say other example: Like the MMO Runescape. If I remember they did a very serious update to the graphics of the game at some point.

Thats it EA you have finally gone off the deep end in your quest for 'broader appeal' in games. Can someone please explain to me just what the hell I just watched?

It looked like hideous mix of Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead seasoned with some Silent Hill, Mass Effect 2 and just a pinch of Call of Duty 4.

I guessing the enemies in the game are going to be the dreaded Robotnazizombiepokemon.

Since I've never seen such a disclaimer used in a videogame trailer before, I'm guessing it's a clue for either an AR game that ties into some kind of in-game story event, or even just an in-game story event. Seriously, why has no one considered that possibility? Are you just not familiar with "the Secret World"?

This. It's clearly some AR reference or something of that nature. They're just being meta.
I'd imagine that in game you'll be fighting to stop the world ending in June 2015.

With the release of Cataclysm, they heavily updated the engine, allowing for more complex graphical displays. They didn't really do anything with it, but they did indeed update it. I mean, sure, they added in more complex shadow effects and reflections, stronger anti-aliasing, and better optimized their engine for modern systems, but all that did was bring them up to speed with what everyone has been doing for a couple years.

Alternate Reality Game [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_Reality_Game]. Like the one Valve did for Portal 2.

And some people are already hating the game in this thread, I see -- I bet if it was made by someone else than EA, people would be more positive. Pah.
To me, that game actually doesn't look bad. I may keep an eye on it.

Regarding OP's question, I second the ARG notion.

Hmm you never really know with EA, maybe this is to ensure that when they make a reboot noone can be reminded that there was a better predecessor.

Imagine if the Mulder and Scully really existed, but they were in a secret underground war with the Men in Black. That's a REALLY rough way of putting it, but it gives you an idea. The whole premise is pretty straightforward. Though Fox and Dana fit the mood, with a monster of the week, a lot better than, Agents A-Z would.

Part 1)Modern horror is, for the most part, real. Vampires, lovecraftian horrors, that (sometimes)bipedal cat from the grudge. Everything from Excalibur and Norse myth, to modern Hellboy critters in subways, are all there for Mully and Sculder to investigate.

Part 2) If you want to be David or Gillian, you have to choose 'their side'. Three factions with a distinct tone, and distinct way of going about the same thing. They all deal with the dark stuff in closets, but some give it a holier than though speech, some throw a grenade, and some bribe them out. No they don't all do those literal things, but it would be cool if they did. They all fight monsters, and when they run out of monsters, fight each other for control of the world.

Its actually not that thin spread, and I didn't really get a Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed vibe. Guns are big weapons, since its modern day, and it does have horror and RPG elements, so the others are pretty valid. I haven't played, and won't until I'm done with WoW for a bit, but it looks interesting.

Just my humble guess
Actually the most reasonable idea so far. I'm all for an AR game, but the simple answer is usually the right one.

More of an observation on design choices the characters and backgrounds. The Assassin's Creed comes from the figures in robes reminisant of Ezio and his baby Assassin's from Brotherhood. From M<ass Effect the scene in space with the character looking out onto the sun similer to the illusive man and the planet his station orbits plus some of the monster designs have a reaper look to them.

That's not EA, that's all Funcom. Read the text before it, EA has no control over that video except for the EA logo.
As for why? No idea.
All I know is that they made a pretty damn good game in my opinion.
