First, I call on Occam's Razor: when presented with two possibilities, neither of which can be proved overt the other, you accept the simplest, most likely over the others.
Therefore, since of course you cannot prove this a simulation, but neither can you prove it isn't, you accept the general view that there are no conspiracies to deny you reality

As for the whole time-stop thing, I've no idea.

My outlook is that it doesn't matter. You can spend all this time being "deep" and thinking how do we know this is reality? but the fact of the matter is that this is the only experience of reality we have. Sure, it may be false, but who cares?

Just stop worrying about it and live life. Whatever that may be.

If you want a real mindfuck consider that we could be actually travelling backwards in time but not realise it.
Could you run that past me? I don't entirely understand how that would work...

On the other hand, consider this: You have no proof of the past, save memory a and physical evidence. Physical evidence is only implied proof (ie how do you know that photograph is real?), while momory is only so much biological patterns in the brain.

The future itself is inherently unstable, so does not actually exist.

The past, being infinitesimally small, and instantly passing through the eye if the now into the past, cannot exist; it is just impossibly small and changeable.

So what part of time really exists?

Brains mess up all the time dude.
I usually imagine stuff before, after or during sleep. Such as the other day when I laid down at like 6 pm and remember waking up and getting something to eat. Then I went back upstairs to play xbox and I remember my mom walking around downstairs and she shouted upstairs that she was home. After about an hour I went downstairs and my mom wasn't home. I shouted and she didn't answer. I called her cell phone after a few minutes and it turns out she had never left her office. I knew it wasn't a dream because the stuff I used to make the food was still out (I'm not the tidiest person) and I knew I hadn't been dreaming because I hadn't laid back in my bed and to the best of my knowledge I hadn't fallen asleep. Strange experience but not at all a glitch.

I also don't buy the whole computer glitch thing because the computer is just a invention. It hasn't been here since the dawn of time and if it simply hadn't been invented none of these theories would exist and The Matrix wouldn't have made millions.

Good thought provoking thread.

This reminds me of something interesting I once read in a book. The author claimed it was exceedingly likely that we are in fact part of a virtual reality. His reasoning was this: with superadvanced technology (nothing like what we have now, but which some alien race might have), one computer can run billions of simulations of billions of beings. In effect, the simulated entities would vastly outnumber the real beings. Therefor, it's much more likely that we are simulated than that we are real. I don't remember the details but that was the gist of it. Pretty funky if you ask me.

WHERE ARE THE BODIES HIDDEN!? [http://www.qwantz.com/comics/comic2-1646.png]

Also a slight problem with your story - if time stopped, nobody would notice - consciusness and perception also happen in time. And even assuming that somehow your body was exempt, you wouldn't see anything, because light would stop as well.

Time is relative. Ever notice that if you concentrate hard enough, moving objects appear to slow down?

There you go.
