I think these people may have a little too much free time... Seriously the only problem I have with that show is the faces MOVE now and the same plot is repeated seven billion times.

People tried to prove the same thing about the Smurfs, Mario... Heck, the arguments are similar to the ones that attack the Bible in that they leave out one thing: cultural values.

Thomas was not an evil show or anything. It did not try to teach sexist values, but rather it portrayed life how it was at the time, how it was believed life should be. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a good example of how cultural norms and values change over time. Demonizing it like this is simply a display of ignorance and a cultural superiority complex.

I think the article has it spot on, your memories are merely clouded by time. Anyone remember what happened in this episode?

Thank you for ruining what precious few happy childhood memories I once had with that image.

OT: Some people just read into stuff too deeply.
Wait a minute... That's not an actual picture from a real episode, is it?

Although I've always had a thorough hatred of Thomas the Tank Engine and his mates (comes from sharing a name), this professor needs to analyze her own life. Seriously. She spends her time studying a children's show and graphs out its social hierarchy? That's just sad.

In other news, "The Cat in the Hat" is communist propaganda, math textbooks are used as mind control on children, "Where the Wild Things Are" is about furries and "Moby Dick" is really hardcore porn.

You are most welcome.

Was that in the episode called: Thomas is selected to be an experimental war train in the Vietnam war?

I strongly disagree, but what do you think?
I read it, how can women be both "bossy and controlling" yet "subordinate"?

In any case, we are back to symbolism again. People can make what they wish out of absolutely anything (I did this piece on Snakes on a Plane last month [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.153187.3697174].) This is just more of the same.
Your snakes on a plane example is exactly my feelings on symbolism. You can see whatever you want in anything and while some symbolism is universal and easy to spot a lot could be just made up.

Edit: I also wondered the same thing on the bossy and controlling yet subordinate
